    MY06 Engine Cover Mods...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Finally got some time to install the engine covers that Audi pimped me out of on my '06...

    1. Added right OEM engine cover.
    2. Added left OEM engine cover over passenger shock tower area...
Modified it to adapt to the Stratmoshpere CAI Bulkhead.

Well here are some quick snapshots...

    Engine Bay BEFORE

    Engine Bay AFTER

    Left Engine Cover Mod:
Cut OEM engine cover with my table saw to fit snugly next to the Stratmosphere bulkhead.

Added angle bracket and drilled holes for a clean pop-rivet attachment.

    Required OEM hardware for mounting

I really like the finished look alot better...
    Thought I'd just share.
    Enjoy:)

BTW, Here are the part Audi OEM Part Nos.:
    (1) - Cover: 8e0-103-928-g-01c
    (1) - Cover (fluids): 8e0-103-927-e-01c
    (2) - Grommet: 078-129-669
    (2) - Spacer: 078-129-734
    (1) - Bushing:8e0-103-541
    (1) - Bolt: n-105-538-01
    (1) - Bolt: Reuse from windshield refill location to the new holder
    (1) - Holder: 8e0-899-803
    (2) - Rivet: n-909-766-01

I know in the pic above, I show some additional hardware pieces, but I ended up not needing them. I however, did not / could not find one of the hardware pieces needed to mount the right cover at the 3rd mounting location (I basically bought all the hardware that was indidated on the ETKA). It's the location where a screw/bolt with a ball head mounts on the radiator refill tank. By my inspection though, the cover holds secure even w/o it.

Nice, definitely completes the look of the engine bay. Do you have part numbers?

Eddie Man, nice! Have you looked at trying to re-incorporate that piece you had to cut off or would it be to much trouble? Putting that piece on and hitting the rivets with some black paint would look totally OEM . BTW, props to you on your very informative signature. I really like how you've provided all the helpfull links to your personal mods. Thanks.

Thanks for your props and for recoginizing the sig...
Glad it helps in any way that it can.

    Regarding that cut-off piece:
Yea, I guess I did give it some thought and it would look pretty good with it on, but what I was concerned about was a couple things.
    1. The look of being, kinda tacked-on. It's kind of a small piece and though it may continue the flow of the trim piece, I think that look maybe just "trying too hard".
    Just my opinion though.
    2. The mounting: Though it can be mounted secure and OEM looking, it needs to facilitate a direct way for removal. Though pop-rivets are good, they are somewhat permanent. Screws/Bolt are good too, but access is key. A tab w/a clip would prolly be the best method, but that is not an option for atleast this DIYer.

    Well anyways, good thoughts though.

Thanks! This is something I'll probably do to stave off the modding bug.

    NP...
Since you have the part numbers now, you may wanna try to utilize the Impex Part route to save on some $, rather than the stealership parts counter.
My be worth a try to see if save any $ but you do have to pay shipping >>> World Impex
