Talking PROJECT - "HEATED SEAT CONVERSION" Thread

** EDITED 12/11/06 - POWER TO SEATS have been installed. VISIT THIS THREAD FOR MORE INFO **

I'm starting this thread for AZ users that want to consider ADDING HEATED SEATS. As a point of reference, I'm starting from worse possible scenario! I'm doing a conversion from NON heat/power/lumbar to FULL heat/power/lumbar.

    -----------------
    Part Numbers
    -----------------

    Front AC/Heat control Unit - 8E0 820 043 AD 5PR

Front Wiring Harness for Heater controls - 8E0 971 566 <- i'm not sure you need this appears to be the harness for the main heat/AC. NOT Seat Heat.

Rear Heat Control Panel (trim piece) -
    8E0 863 351 C 5PR

    Rear Seat Heat control Switch - 8E0 963 563- 5PR

Rear Seat Heat control Harness - 8E0 971 386 <- This MIGHT be the only harness you need.

Connectors # 7 (2-pin) appear to go to the rear heated seats.
Connectors # 4 appear to go to the rear heat switches.
Connectors # 3 (3-pin) appear to go to the driver and passenger seat (though it lists the connector as black, the harness connector from the seat is GREEN)

Connector #9 appears to go to the fuse relay.

NOT SURE what connects the actual AC/Heater control unit to the fuse box. there might be a harness i'm missing still....

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few question for you all that ALREADY have the FULL seating package:

    1. What size is the fuse on your driver's side? - 30amp

    2. What size is the fuse on your passenger side? - 30amp

    3. Where are the rear heated seat fuses located? FUSE #44 is 30amp and possibly the fuse for the entire heated seat element (front & rear)

The other main difference (other than not having the GREEN Harness for Seat Heat) is the RED connector doesn't have a power line running to it.

VISIT THIS THREAD TO SEE HOW I RAN POWER TO THE SEATS

    ----------

    Thanks in advance everyone,

I'm hoping i can make this the official DIY thread for the HEATED SEAT CONVERSION PROCESS.
