    VAG Codes for B7 A4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Tried to search for the answer to no avail. Does anyone know where I can get VAG codes for the B7 A4? Specifically, I'd like the following:

    - 1 touch unlock opens all doors
    - Eliminate seatbelt sensor noise
    - Open/close sunroof & windows w/ keyfob

I think that's it - unless anyone has done other VAG mods that are worth it. My dealer said he'd be happy to do them if I bring him the codes.

    Can anyone help?

The VAG-COM s/w for B6 & B7 are the same. If you are using the eBay cable make sure you use the freeware version ie 409.1, not the latest one.

Good looks Tanner -- I appreciate it.

As for the 'no amber' code -- anyone have a pic to show what this would look like? Sounds intriguing.....

No pictures here, but just image your headlights on at night, but no side ambers. They only get turned on when the turn signal is on.

It's not that confusing at all. It's more understanding how the stuff is 'encoded'.

For example let's look at this:

    Select 46 (Comfort System)
    Coding -> Function 07

    +00001 - 10 Tamper alarms (Great Britain)
    +00002 - Confirmation Anti-theft warning system blinks
+00004 - Selective Central Locking (SCL)
    +00008 - Anti-theft warning system - activation of AWS
+00016 - Rear lid release locking via speed
+00032 - Comfort Locking via speed
+00064 - Comfort function via remote control
+00128 - Right Hand Drive (RHD)
    +00256 - Avant bit
    +00512 - Confirmation remote closing (1x blink)
+01024 - Confirmation anti-theft warning sytem horn activation
    +02048 - Door-/ window regulator logic
    +04096 - Thatcham anti-theft warning
    +08192 - No safe-function
+16384 - Side windows with insulated glass

All of the stuff above is represented is actually in binary format but given that we see the coding as a regular old number, we have to 'decode' it to understand what options are turned on and what isn't used.

For example, if you had a number of 18742, basically to get this number we add:

    16384
    2048
    256
    32
    16
    8
    1

Then that gets you the options that are used to arrive at 18742. Basically you want to work backwards, take the largest possible number and subtract that from your value. So if you wanted to activate the horn (1024), you basically add 1024 to 18742 getting you 19766 and so on.

With the other options, it's just a matter of changing a digit.

Using Mike's example, simply open up Windows calculator on the laptop you're using for the VAG-COM. Then select "Scientific" mode. Here you'll have the option of working in DEC (decimal 0 to 9) or BIN (binary 0 to 1). The cool part about binary is that the 1s and 0s are like ONs and OFFs.

If 18742 were your default VAG-COM value, simply switch to DEC mode (default), enter the number, and then switch to BIN mode. You'll get:

    100100100110110

If you don't have the same number of options in the list as you do 1s and 0s, simply add 0s to the LEFT of the number to fill in the blanks. Here we have all 15 so it's OK.

Basically the 0 on the far right is the first item in Mike's example (10 Tamper alarms) and the 1 on the far left is the 15th item on the list (Side windows with insulated glass).

All this is in the VAG-COM pop-up window when you mouse-over the number.

So if we look at the number and make "right to left" instead be "up to down" we have 100100100110110 becoming:

    0
    1
    1
    0
    1
    1
    0
    0
    1
    0
    0
    1
    0
    0
    1

And matching that to the list:

    0 - OFF - 10 Tamper alarms (Great Britain)
    1 - ON - Confirmation Anti-theft warning system blinks
1 - ON - Selective Central Locking (SCL)
    0 - OFF - Anti-theft warning system - activation of AWS
1 - ON - Rear lid release locking via speed
1 - ON - Comfort Locking via speed
0 - OFF - Comfort function via remote control
0 - OFF - Right Hand Drive (RHD)
    1 - ON - Avant bit
    0 - OFF - Confirmation remote closing (1x blink)
0 - OFF - Confirmation anti-theft warning sytem horn activation
    1 - ON - Door-/ window regulator logic
    0 - OFF - Thatcham anti-theft warning
    0 - OFF - No safe-function
1 - ON - Side windows with insulated glass

Then it's simply a matter of switching whatever you want ON or OFF by replacing the 1s and 0s with the value of your choice, then just re-input the 1 and 0 BIN number into the calculator and switch to DEC mode for the number you need to put back in the VAG-COM box. This sounds long explaining it, but when you do it it's so much quicker.

So if we wanted to turn on the "Comfort function via remote control" we simply change the bit from 0 to 1 and end up with 100100101110110 which is 18806 when you switch it back to DEC.

    Hope that wasn't too confusing...

Re: VAG Codes for B7 A4

Are those codes the same for a B6? I would like to try a couple of things mentioned above. If the codes are the same. Is there a way to turn the daytime running lights off? In Canada they have to be on all the time and that means I have this stupid little green thing on my dashboard the whole time. I drive with my xenons on anyway so I never use daytimes. Thanks.

I tried to turn the ambers off in my B6 last weekend and I couldn't manage to do it with the standard US housings. It seems possible with the ecodes but the codes didn't work for me when I tried setting the value to 'Rest of the World'

If somebody has better luck, please post cause I'd love to be able to get rid of that amber bulb.

The code I had to change to get this to work was 00003 by default(I believe it is the first box). I changed it to 01031 and now it is all good!

Re: VAG Codes for B7 A4

I have a 2007 A4 Cabriolet and my default code is 21023 and I have tried all different codes and combinations. I get the turn signal lights to turn off, but then the rear signal lights do not work. As if the lights were out and I get the fast signal indicators.

    What can I do?

Someone please help.....I don't want my car looking like a christmas tree. Just the clean xenon look.

Well, with mine, I actually accidentally deleted the original value and just put in the number I wanted (I had no idea what I was doing originally). I then started over and just checked off the features I wanted and added them all up. Ended up with 28282 and everything works great! You could try that too and just do trial and error?

Re: VAG Codes for B7 A4

What did 28282 end up giving you?
All for the trial and error, hasn't broken things yet (crosses fingers)

    Here's a thread I posted in quite a bit (see post #525):

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...=158766&page=6

But, to get to that value, I added the following numbers (see that list for corresponding options):

    2, 8, 16, 32, 64, 512, 1024, 2048, 8192, and 16384.

I think if you've got a similar car (i.e., no avant or right-hand drive), you should be okay.

1014 is Halogen with DRL / Canada without Bi-Xenon. Try 1012.

    Euro Headlights & DRL
Module 09 (Central Electrical), recode to ###XY, where:

    X = DRL
    0 – Halogen without DRL
    1 – Halogen with DRL
    2 – Bi-Xenon with DRL
    3 – Bi-Xenon without DRL
    4 – Bi-Xenon with DRL / tail light / license plate light

    Y = Locale
    1 – Rest of World / Nordic Countries / Denmark / Croatia / Baltic Countries with Bi-Xenon
    2 – Nordic Countries / Denmark / Croatia / Baltic Countries without Bi-Xenon
    3 – USA / Canada with Bi-Xenon
    4 – Canada without Bi-Xenon
    5 – Special Vehicles

I have a 2008 a4 cabrio and I did the fog light mod with no parking lights just city and that was nice and easy but I have tried to do the seat belt chime delete and the windows up down with unlock but no luck. section 46 wont even open up on the vag and 17 for the seat belt has no section to re-code just 05 which asked for a 3 digit number 00-255. What the hell do I do

    1) Cab codes are different.

    2) If you are looking at a 3 digit 00-255 screen, seems like you are doing it wrong. Seems like you are in adaptation instead of recode. Reread instruction.

I used code 11896 to enable the window feature w/ FOB and combo 1 click lock/unlock.

Lately i've noticed that when I click to roll Down w/ the FOB, doors unlock but the windows won't roll down no matter how long i hold the button down. Has this happen to anyone else? I will have to re-press the unlock button and hold a few times before the window's roll down.

maybe my fob battery is going dead?

Yeah I've noticed the same thing sometimes, I assumed it was because the car needs to read the button as being held but if the signal is weak or interrupted briefly, it doesn't work and i have to repress.

Ditto! It makes those ugly ambers less obvious at night. During the daytime, however... I'll have to get around to removing them altogether eventually.
