    Secondary Air Injection System

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I went in to Autozone today to read a CEL that popped up yesterday, the code came back P0411-Secondary Air Injection Sytem Incorrect Flow. Recently I have been having some hesitation issues at high boost and in 4th-5th gears, people advised me to replace my spark plugs but is this problem directly related to it?

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...hreadid=102503

From searching I found it could either be the Combi Valve or a hose that just poped off or tore, are there any other things i should look at? I have had my Evo MS intake for about 2 years and never got the code so i dont think its related to my intake. Thanks

I think the hesitation and the SAI system are not related. The secondary air injection is just used for cold start up for emissions purposes. I would clear the code and see what happens.

Do you hear loud jet engine sound when you start your car? If you do the pump is on its way out. If you have a vag com you turn the pump on and open the solenoid that opens the valve. Also go with the ngk plugs like the guy in the other thread suggested, I had the stock bosch ones in there and my car ran like shit, I had denso iridiums in there, it ran good for a while but then in 4th and 5th gear full throttle it would feel like it miss fired and everytime i tried to floor it would keep doing it, finally I put in the ngk bkr6e and it runs like a dream, it feels like i got all my lost power back.

Not necessarily, it will make that sound if the hose comes unplugged from the pump, mine's been unplugged for months now so I get that sound every cold start. Too lazy to plug it back in I guess

Hmm I bought a used one from a junk yard is was completely quiet while running. You might want to put that hose on bro cause if it takes in some water its toast. My first one was full of water when i changed it. Hows that eliminator treating you? One day that would be cool as hell if you could take me for a rip I live in southfield.

If it takes in some water that just gives me an excuse to rip it off the car

The eliminator is doing good, I might be heading to the track tomorrow to see what I can do, hoping for the best. You'll have to drive up here to get a ride in it though

I got this code a couple months ago. Turned out that this vacuum line had a tear. $2 fix and got my boost back. My money is on the fact that this line needs replacement.

no prob. let us know how it turns out. My line was torn right by the combi valve. As I pulled the vac line out, it was dry rotted and disintegrated in my hand.

It's also related to the combination valve as said above. I got the code last year for the secondary air injection system and the hose to my combination valve was torn. I fixed the hose and the code never came back until my pump got unplugged.

Okay guys, been through this many times... If you are getting a SAI code and hesitation, clean your MAF or buy a new one... Trust me... Do a log on your MAF and see what it brings up...

I have a 3.0 and have this problem... but not being turbo'd it makes me wonder. I do have a combi valve, but the hose seems ok. I may just replace it anyway and hope for the best. Any ideas?

I have a 2.8L and mine is throwing the same code. I never noticed a jet engine sound out of my car, but it was at the body shop today, and he called me and said he had heard it, ran the code, and got the Secondary Air Injection code. He called the dealership, and they told him it was more than likely the SAP. I really don't want to replace it, or rather, spend the money on it when all it is for is Emissions, and I live in Montana for christ's sake. Is there any way around the CEL? I read something about attaching a hose and breather filter to where it draws air, but it wasn't very descriptive (this was on audiforums).
