2015 SQ5 Noise During Rain and Snow

Loud grinding noise happens only during heavy rain or snow. It triggers when you hit deep puddles or deep snow. As if some water is getting into something and causing the differential or drivetrain system to freak out or "slip"/grind. I hoping its a sensor shorting out and not something worse but it sounds horrific and potentially catastrophic. On the plus it only happens for a bit, then the car drives fine. Also if you pull over when it happens, sit for a minute and continue to drive its fine. Really disheartened because I love Audi's for their reliability in heavy snow and rain. Its why I have this as a daily in MN. Anyone else experience this?

Do you happen to have AWE downpipes? I had a similar issue with mine and it turned out to be the AWE downpipes hitting the trans craddle. The noise would only happen under heavy rain or when driving over a lot of snow or puddles. Hasn't happened since I switched to JHM downpipes.

I have stock downpipes and definitely feels like a trans/drive line issue. Taking it to local well established euro car shop on the 10th. Hopefully we can figure it out lol

Maybe a loose under body panel? Rain/snow gets in and causes it to drag against moving parts, making the noise.

I'd say when the car is cold, go under and just move and lightly pry on panels, then move around the exhaust or even driveshaft, around the support mounts. Same with your fender liners in the wheel arches.
