Observed Symptoms of smoke from tail pipe from oil burning (roughly one quart per gas tank, so 2+ quarts/1k mls):
1) Only smokes with warm engine
2) Does NOT smoke under boost
3) Does NOT smoke under constant part throttle (or not noticed)
4) Smokes when closing throttle (vacuum), and coming to a stop
5) Smokes when closing throttle, then opening again or tapping
6) Smokes when heavily ‘stabbing’ the throttle, revving engine (open throttle wide, revs up, closing throttle)
Currently, PCV system lines to engine block and intake manifold are vented to atmosphere (blocked intake side). It feels like smoking was reduced after venting to atmosphere.
What could cause the smoke under the above conditions?
I know that the 2.0T (not sure if this generation or the next) is suffering from high oil consumption do to wrong oil piston ring design, but have never read that SMOKING is a symptom.
The head was completely rebuilt by engine shop after timing jump (bent valves).
No cat (downpipe), removed when head was out.
I installed a new turbo when head was out.
I do NOT know if engine was smoking prior to timing jump.
I have tried some 'soaking', chemicals in oil, chemicals in gas.
