    Garage door homelink

Anyone have issues with programming their garage remote? I go through the setup process, hold my physical remote pointed at rear view mirror and it says programmed successfully. I try it on my car and the garage does nothing. I even clicked the program button on my garage door motor and then click the programmed button in my car. Garage door motor light flashes once or twice and makes the click sound like it’s been successfully programmed after pushing the button. When I use the button in the car, it still doesn’t work after doing this. What’s weird is when I push the button in my car I can see the little light blink on the garage door motor so I know it’s getting the signal, but it doesn’t do anything open or close garage. I’ve contacted Homelink and I’ve contacted my garage door manufacturer company and nobody can figure it out. I’m starting to think it’s an incompatibility thing or there’s something wrong with my home link.

Yes, I could never get my 2019 S4 to work with the garage door. I tried for hours and just gave up. I was able to easily get my 2023 Q7 to work tho. It has crazy range, I can open the door from a block away.

I've had similar trouble with my 2019. It will program just fine and work for a day or two but then loses connection. I've heard that certain kinds of garage door openers use a rolling code that often won't work with Homelink. But I have also heard that your car is supposed to account for that so who knows. I just keep the cheapy opener on the visor lol

I'm on my third Audi ('24 S4) where I've had to program three separate garage doors into Homelink. Each time it's been a different process and once it works, I still don't know how I did it. lol
On this one, what I did note was that first I had to pair the door opener remote to the MMI (following the MMI steps). Following this step I then realized that I had to pair the MMI to the garage door opener.....so more of a two step process. When paring the car to the garage door opener, I had to press the "learning" button on the opener so that it would accept the signal from the MMI. Again, this worked for me....not exactly sure why......it will remain a mystery until I do the next one I guess.

Yeah I’ve done this too. I hold my remote button on the physical remote until the mmi says successfully programmed. After that I click the learn or program button on the back of the garage door motor and then click my “learned” button on the mmi. Garage door light flashes and makes the click sound indicating it’s been programmed. Still doesn’t do anything.

Had something similar going on with mine. Ended up pulling the side-assist fuse, programming the garage door and putting the fuse back in. I haven’t had any problems with it since. I think it is some sort of interference issue. There’s a couple YouTube videos out there on it.

Tried pulling 3 different fuses for the driver assistance systems. Still didn’t work.

I’ve had so many problems doing this and eventually just gave up. Yesterday I gave it another shot and even after pulling the driver assistance fuse, I still could not get it to work. What ended up fixing it for me was just trying another garage door clicker (this was with the fuse still out, not sure if this was necessary but it definitely didn’t hurt). I had two newer clickers and I was trying both and had no luck. I found an older one that we had laying around and paired the clicker to the garage door unit, and with that old clicker, the car picked it up in around 10 seconds with no problem. Before it would not even detect any of the clickers. It still, however, would not open or close the garage door so what I had to do was put the garage door in learn mode and press the corresponding Homelink button (I in my case) to send the signal out and this paired the garage door to the signal the car was sending out and it’s worked flawlessly ever since. As a sidenote, my mother has a 2022 Cayenne and this did not require the additional pairing with the button on the garage door receiver; it only required the initial pairing with the new clicker. I had the same issue with her car before where it would not even recognize the other two clickers, but this third clicker I found and tried fixed it for both cars. The first two clickers were namebrand, but they were just regular clickers from the store; the third one I tried was older and we had not used for years, but it had a garage door company’s name on it and I assume it was a bit more of a premium clicker for its time

Only ones I have are a non branded aftermarket clicker which looks identical to the name brand “lift master” without the logo. Not sure if the name brand ones will work any different. I can’t use a super old clicker because my garage door has the “orange” program button which is like 2012 and up and certain really old remotes aren’t compatible. I even tried programming a “home link” type of system in a family members 2020 Ram 1500 with the integrated sun visor buttons and it works perfectly fine and programs. This Audi just doesn’t want to work. It says it’s been programmed successful and I even click program then click the button in my Audi and the garage door opener, clicks, and the light blinks twice like it’s been programmed successfully. After I try the button in my Audi, the button on the back of the garage door motor blinks every time I click the button in my car as well indicating it’s getting the signal. It just doesn’t do anything, but the light blinks.
