A few years ago my ccm got waterlogged so i replaced it and everything has worked since besides the buttons on my key fob. I have VCDS now so id like to fix that. Im just wondering if I need to reprogram my key or the ccm itself to get these buttons to work again.
    Thanks!

You might want to message users 'Avantly' or 'Savagesoot'. They both seem to be very knowlegable about Audi keyfobs. They replied to a question in the C7 forums not to long ago. Check the link below.

If the car still starts and you don't have an immo delete, you should be able to just turn the car on to ACC while holding the unlock button for 5 seconds until the locks click. Then the key will be paired until the module or key loses battery again.

Something is wrong with my key/module though because it unpairs every other time I get out of the car (have to repair almost every drive cycle... I just don't bother locking it anymore.)

I had one like that. I replaced with another FOB and it has worked fine on same car ever since. Probably a crack or corroded joint in the bad FOB. Note that you can change out the FOB portion of the key, leaving the immobilizer RFID unchanged. Check the FCC ID on the board if replacing and get another that matches. Cheap clone keys I tried off amazon had wrong version of board and would not work, better to go with a used A4 key. Agree, no need to use VCDS for FOB pairing, plenty of tutorials on Youtube if you need that.

I had tried all the methods without vcds and they never worked. Tried reprogramming the key with vcds and it was recognized the first time but the unlock and lock buttons still didn’t work, then it just wouldn’t recognize it after that. Going to try a new fob
