Hey all,
I have a 2014 S7, basic mods like SRM inlets and ECU/tcu tune. 72K miles on the car. First, I made a foolish mistake and while rushing forgot to put my oil cap back on and I’m not sure if that is related to today’s fiasco but just wanted to put that out there Incase somehow that doomed my PCV or something.
Everything seemed normal then out of no where while taking off the car shuddered and a huge smokescreen level worth of white smoke started pouring out of the exhaust, I was only 2 miles from the house so I limped it home, which is when I discovered the oil cap was off the car when I opened the hood. Oil dripping from the exhaust. Car was extremely low on oil but didn’t get any warnings on the dash about oil level, just had a flashing engine light and EPC. Had misfire codes on most cylinders. Topped the oil, replaced the cap, cleared the codes, started it and the idle was back to normal, no more codes for misfires while idling anyway, but still a lot of smoke, just can’t tell if it’s from before left over oil or still sucking, oil level on digital gauge hasn’t dropped after 10 minutes of idle. Pulled the inlets and throttlebody off, oil all over the backside of the throttlebody and down inside of the intercooler, turbo impellers are fine looking, I will pull the cores out tomorrow to inspect the other side. I don’t see any oil in the engine bay, I do see some oil on top of the (hot side of the turbo? By the valve arm that’s on top of the turbo?) Could running without the oil cap of done something to the PCV to where it started sucking oil, or does it sound like turbo failure? I don’t know where to start lol
