Getting new wheels but I don’t know what specs to decide on (long question)

right now I am on the Kansei KNPs. They are 18/8.5 + 35 with a 12 mil spacer. As a kid buying his first set of wheels I wasn’t even thinking about them clearing the brake calipers (17z front and rear) just figured “hey OEM offset should be fine with a spacer” and with both of those I have maybe a few mills of clearance on my calipers.

    The point is…
I want to buy TE37s but now that I’ve bought a set of wheels once and it worked by chance of luck, clearance issues are on my mind and wondering what you guys would recommend. As said I’m on 18/8.5 but want to go to 19/8.5 or maybe 19/9. My fitment is very tight in the back (can’t fit my fingers) So I’m asking what you guys think I should do because I want to go with a overall larger wheel but I want them to fit the first time regarding caliper and wheel well clearance (don’t want to be driving on my body panels).
So should I keep the specs and just up the size, consider not running spacers changing spacer size, offset etc…

Also I know if I go 9” wide I’m probably gonna ditch the spacer but if I want to keep it I don’t know what offset to go with

    Thanks in advance

Getting new wheels but I don’t know what specs to decide on (long question)

The short answer is, it really depends.

There are multiple types of TE37. None are 19x9 in 5x112, and of the 4 types of TE's that are 19 and 5x112, only 2 of them offer width/offset that would even work on a standard body car in the first place, without spacers. Both are either 19x8.5 +38, or 19x8.5 +22. +22 isn't going to come close to working up front on an narrow body car unless you're rolling/pulling fenders, making custom fender liners, and have a way to dial in some camber. Even out back, 8.5 +22 is going to be close. This is assuming you're using a tire that fits the wheel, and not stretching something narrow. 8.5 +22 would work on a widebody/RS4, albeit a bit weak of a fitment.

The diameter of the wheel has the least amount to do with it.
