First Start - Common VCDS Checks/Procedures

    Got the car started today.

Runs good, still need to tidy some things before i put it on the floor but looking good.

I am making this thread, hoping to get some input on good measuring blocks to check on start up, the values that should be seen, and any common procedures that need to be done after an engine out job.

Measuring blocks 91/92/93 are a given. What values are within spec? Isnt it 5% diff between banks? And obviously as close to 0 as possible? Whats max?

What other blocks and values do you all pay attention to?

I look at trims too but cant remember the block.

    Cheers all!

Timing is the only thing that matters for a first start and that can’t be messed up if you did the belt correctly. Fuel trims your tuner will dial in as you put some miles on it. I would check for boost and vac leaks before worrying about trims since they will throw them off. And any fluid leaks obviously.

Sounds like you’re making great progress, getting it started after an engine-out is a huge milestone. Definitely smart to double-check all your measuring blocks before hitting the floor with it.

For blocks 91/92/93, you’re right, ideally, you want the differences between banks to be within about 5%, and as close to 0% as possible is best. Max difference people usually accept is around 8%, but anything higher could point to issues like intake leaks or timing being slightly off. Block 32 is another one worth watching for fuel trims, and block 33 too depending on the car.

Well good news is my timing is pretty good, with 3 degrees on passenger side and 1 on driver. Maybe too much pretension?

Trims look good, about 4% additive. Ill look around for tiny leaks.

Honestly I took my time so much on this build, nearly two years. It was hard to have patience just prior to putting engine and doing all the little stuff, but totally worth it. No issues with it but havent driven!

I got my EFK all wired up yesterday. Today I just have to hook up driveshaft, put the exhaust on fully(its not tight). Then i am going to rust treatment the rotors, drop on floor, tighten axles/control arms/sway bar and shes drivable. Oh and headlights/bumper lol

    That makes me so happy!

I have been compiling a buld document I will be posting it in coming weeks. Thank u Audizine, I asked a few questions but really the self serve function(Search!) was invaluable! Couldnt have done it without u all.
