HPFP failure by N276 leaving the chat

I just wanted to see if anyone had seen a failure like this. I've had the N276 fuel pressure valve eject from the top of the high pressure fuel pump, twice. Needless to say I'm getting a different HPFP, but wanted to see if this is something anyone else h as seen before.

The first time it happened I was sitting in my driveway and suddenly noticed the strong smell of fuel. I shut the car off and opened the hood and found the top of the HPFP gone, after looking around a bit I found the N276 still plugged in but hanging off the passenger side of the engine and standing fuel in the top of the pump. I contacted the vendor I'd purchased it from approximately 10000 miles before, and they offered a warranty replacement. I took it and installed the replacement last January (aproximately 7000 miles ago). This time I was driving and suddenly smelled fuel and found a place to pull over and then popped the hood and found the same issue and and fuel dripping out of the soaked underhood insulation.

Now to reiterate, this is literally the valve (the composite part that is stuck into the threaded plug at the top of the HPFP. It seems pretty absurd to think it's just pressed or glued in given the pressures seen in the HPFP....but who knows.

No, never ever seen that, lol. Gonna take a guess here and say it was either a cheapo pump, or a supposed "quality" pump bought from eBay/Amazon??
So the threaded part was still in the pump, but the solenoid blew out?

It was a TRQ from 1A Auto. It admittedly was pretty inexpensive, though as I was in a bit of a financial lurch it worked out well. However I have been looking around the web and not really finding anyone who has seen it, or at least no one that posted anything about it, but yeah literally just the solenoid came out. At any rate I have an actual Hitachi on the way now.

Inexpensive now, but much costly later. Said it many times and I'll always keep on saying again for the welfare (and safety) of my fellow AZ members: Always use GENUINE Audi parts!

Or at least OE and sometimes OEM, depending on the part. I know you're a big "genuine only" guy, but it's just not necessary. Like the HPFP, Hitachi makes them. Big thing is STAY AWAY FROM CHINESE JUNK", lol.

Ideally I'd love to only put OEM or OEM replacement parts on my car, however I don't have several hundred dollars per part available to spend on it so I have to be pragmatic in choosing replacement parts. That said, yes, a great deal of the time it does involve replacing them sooner and buying again, but if it's your only way to work it is what it is. As to Chinese junk.....well a huge swath of stuff (even brand names) are made in China so I don't really know that that's a hill worth dying on....but that's me. I'm not telling anyone they're wrong, just expressing my own viewpoint.

A good brand having a manufacturing plant in China(like Borg Warner) is totally different than a cheap Chinese brand. Biggest issue is no quality control. They make and ship, don't matter if it works, lol.

I got my Hitachi pump off Amazon about 7 years ago . and it has been flawless, so not all Amazon parts are bad.. all I had to do was swap the fittings over from mine as I have the bolt setup not the rubber line . I would not have bought it if it was not OEM .

did you try reaching out to A1 for warranty ?
