Start with the front end high then lower it as you push back towards the firewall. You have to muscle it pretty good, and I’ve used a break bar to line up the motor mount studs too. It will find home.

    Here's what I did
SHORT chains on the hoist so motor is dropping at an approx 30deg angle
push forward so you can fish the heater hose line up thru the fire wall
JACK under the tranny in line with the tranny mounts---this is key!
lift the tranny but be aware of the down pipes--only need a bit of clearance for them
lower the hoist while giving a push forward and VOILA.....
I need a Bourbon and some chemicals.....
    PS-
Having another set of hands and eyes would help GREATLY

    Hey!
Glad to hear you got the motor in. I would have come to help but I’m a bit far…
Why did you pull the motor? How has the car been running?

car was running GREAT---had a small oil leak----oil inlet on right side turbo
My bad---was not tightened correctly on initial installation
I detailed this in the SPRING thread
ALL this work to change 3 copper crush washers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS- THANKS for the offer to help----everone hates on us Silver guys!
    he he he
    PSS-
Did a COMPLETE nut-n-bolt with the motor out-ALL was good with the exception of that damn oil inlet fitting----going on 5 years since the build and some 15,000 miles of use.
Waste gate fine-cracking pressure right where I set them, NO other oil leaks, NO other screw-ups, vac lines an other plumbing all fine.....
I work REAL slow so it will take me a weekend to get her back to whole.

Just want to say kudos to you for still going at it at 72 years old. I'm 78 myself and still tackling those jobs on my S4.

Muscling these drivetrains in and out is a young man’s game.

I’m going to be doing a motor pull this summer. By myself as well. Not looking forward to it. And I’m 50. Kudos to you for doing this in your 70’s!
