Does your tune give better or worse mpg?

What's the opinion on this. I know a lot of 2000s turbo cars seemed to get better mpg since they were not running pig rich. That also would depend how much your foot is in it. So does your modified tuned car get better or worse mpg?
If you can read this thank a teacher, since its English thank a veteran...

Audi make a great car, but their heater cores are, well $h!t.....

Yeah, it actually gets slightly better MPG when I’m driving normally. The tune cleaned up the AFRs a bit and smoothed out throttle response, so it’s not dumping fuel like it used to. But yeah, like you said, it all depends on how heavy your foot is. Under boost or spirited driving, it’ll definitely drink more, but cruising or daily driving? It’s been surprisingly efficient.

I seem to remember getting pretty good mileage when I had the Frankenturbo setup, mainly on long trips. Around town it was hard to stay out of the throttle.

A modified tune can either increase or decrease your MPG depending on how the car is tuned and how it’s driven. If you’re running a more aggressive tune for better performance, it may result in a slight decrease in fuel economy because you’re likely pushing more power to the engine, which can lead to more fuel consumption. On the other hand, some modified tunes are designed with fuel efficiency in mind, optimizing fuel-air mixture and timing to potentially increase MPG, especially at highway speeds.

For 2000s turbo cars, many vehicles were tuned conservatively from the factory, running slightly rich to prevent knocking and ensure reliability. A proper tune can adjust this, leaning out the mixture for better fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance. However, this comes down to how the car is driven if you push the car harder, you’re likely to burn more fuel, regardless of the tune.

So, if you’re concerned about MPG with your modified tuned car, it depends on your driving habits. A more efficient tune could theoretically improve fuel economy, but if you drive aggressively, you’ll likely see worse MPG. Always keep an eye on how the car responds after tuning and adapt your driving style to achieve the best balance of power and economy.
