    Disable Auto Ignition Shut off

    Greetings.

I'm curious if anyone has been able to successfully disable the ignition auto shutoff in their C8 A6/S6/RS6 vehicles. I'm not talking about the engine start/stop for clarity. If I start the engine, open the door and get up, it seems the seat detects I'm not on it anymore and it triggers a 30 second ignition shutdown sequence. Let's say I go to grab something in the trunk in the parking lot or want to warm up the car while running back into the house to grab something, the car seems to not let me. I can leave the key inside the car and it still won't stay on the second I leave the front seat.

My service advisor suggested trying to pop the hood, but that seems locked out entirely when the engine is running, even in park.

I used to be able to do this in my previous gen A3/S3/RS3 model without any complaint other than the key not being in the car anymore.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Two options-

APR tune or install eBay/aliexpress disablement harness under back seat at the module.

    Both methods work

What model year is your car? The service advisor thought this was normal?

I had this issue with my car and leaving the key in the car works. Also apr tune stopped it as well.

2025 model year. Yes, it’s normal. A message even pops up on the dash that the ignition will automatically shut off in 30 seconds. Seems like a very explicit coding to not let the ignition stay on with no one in the driver’s seat.

I’ve tried leaving the key in the car. As soon as it detects the driver’s seat is vacant, it triggers the ignition 30 second shut off sequence.

The way I've been disabling the auto shut off is by turning off the auto start/stop on the lower MMI before stepping out of the car, so the car keeps running and the engine doesn't shut off after 30 seconds.
