Recently purchased a 2016 A6 , FWD with 2.0T and 7 speed S tronic. It has 106K miles. The cabin vibrates a lot when I release the brake when in reverse. Never does it in D or other gear. Also, I have a slight cabin vibration at idle in park. I've already replaced the trans mount with little to no improvement. I am now honing in on a problem with the DMF. Can it be the dual mass flywheel worn out, loose, or unbalanced? I can't imagine that it would be already worn out. Replacing this thing requires dropping the trans which I have never done. Interestingly, I found a TSB very much describing my issue, even heard that slight noise. I plan on just unbolting the bolts and re-torqueing to 60nm on the drive plate. Will I screw something up? Is there a good chance I can improve the issue? https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...33298-9999.pdf
I visually inspected DMF, and don't really see much. It does make some noise, and there's a metallic clunk when shutting down the engine. I was about the take on the TSB job only to find that I didn't have a 16 mil 12 point socket for the bolts. Needs to be as low profile as possible, so I didn't manage to re-tighten these bolts (ordered the socket) but here's some photo/video of the DMF:
