No DIS trip info on instrument clusrer

I got my cluster retrofitted some time back by speedosolutions from a monochrome DIS to color. My car came in stock with the 9Q7 monochrome with trip computer, and it has the stocks for it. With the new cluster, everything works fine except it doesn't use the on board trip computers at all. On my concert radio MMI I still see the options for on board computer 1 and 2 but it doesn't make any difference on my cluster. Heres what my cluster looks like, and I haven't seen anyone else with this issue. You will notice an how theres nothing below the red line. Any way to fix or reason why this happens?

Probably need to check the coding in the instrument cluster and confirm they set the trip computer enabled. Trip computer is just a coding bit flip. But VCDS, you have to have it connected and open to look at long coding helper, so can't say offhand which bit is the one to look at.

I checked VCDS and it was enabled. I disabled it just to see what it would do and it simply just displayed the date/time with the fuel range, and the stalkers didn't change anything when pressed. I'm thinking this is some kind of compatibility issue or gateway problem.

Post the complete section for 17-instruments from the VCDS autoscan log. And the same from a scan before the swap if you have it. What MY is this vehicle? 9Q7/9Q8 were used starting with the MY10 electrical overhaul.

The autoscan came back with "no fault code found" in both cases. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding what you mean. I was going through the long coder though and couldn't find anything that could fix the issue

...981C is the US A4 2.0T MY11/MY12 cluster for 9Q8 (color DIS with trip computer) without 8T4 (ACC). Your prior cluster should have been a ...950H as seen in my previous post. There's one coding bit difference. But that's the trip computer bit, byte 1 bit 2. Not set on the 950H, set on the 981C. Set on my MY09 980A. There's also a bit for MMI 3G; that's not set. But you said you have Concert anyway, so that would be correct.

Beyond that, I didn't see any adaptations, output tests, or measuring value blocks related to the trip computer for being able to assess anything regarding its operation. You don't even get a range to empty? But you said if you turn the trip computer bit off, then you can see a range to empty?

No idea myself. Would call it a broken cluster. But seems an odd break to have. If you long press the button on the bottom edge of the stalk, does any manner of reset appear to occur? (for example, does the stalk reset reset the values you see through the CAR menu?)

Without a communications error or something to work from, it just seems to be broken.

Did you already get the component protection reset? I could see this not working while CP is active. But you don't paste the full unabridged autoscan log so we can't just know if CP is active or not.

So it would look something like this when I set the DIS bit to off. The issue is I can't go through each mode. The up and down trip stalks by the side of the wiper do absolutely nothing in either case. The reset button does nothing when DIS bit is off but it does work normally when it's on (as expected).

Long pressing the reset button does nothing. I had CP removed by speedo solutions and he did the coding and provided the donor cluster. It's not the biggest deal and I can live with it because I can find the range by going pressing the reset stalk a few times but I'd rather have it be there.

I looked at the B8 A5 SSP for another question, and noticed in the infotainment comparison table there was a line for driver information system, and that under concert, symphony, and MMI basic was listed DIS, monochrome and under MMI high was listed DIS color. It could well be there's a link between the color DIS and MMI high. We see that's the only way it was sold in the US. But none of the retrofit threads seem to ever discuss MMI. And anyone needing to retrofit wouldn't have MMI high after, unless they were also retrofitting MMI high. But I still think you have some issue specific to that cluster going on, rather than a general incompatibility.

Yeah I saw someone who did the color DIS retrofit and they posted a picture with everything working like factory even though they also had concert instead of MMI high.
