Question ECS Tuning Valved Exhaust - Continued Issues

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have had my ECS exhaust since 2020.

I have had the muffler replaced due to the valve failing.
It failed again and ECS decided that they were not going to fix it... after MANY emails back and forth I ultimately gave up because I was just being given the run around. I kept the ECS downpipe and put the factor mid-pipe and muffler back on.

I have been having a buzzing sound for the past few months and decided to finally get under the car and try to identify it. Based on searches it pointed me to the flex pipe. So I got under the car while my daughter gave it 'bursts' of throttle and yep the buzzing is coming from the flex pipe. I just happened to have a brand new ECS down pipe from when they replaced the muffler. I had asked them if I needed to send it back and they told me to keep it, which was nice.

So I decided to install it and as it turns out, the rattle is even worse now, with a BRAND NEW downpipe.

Admittedly, I am not hopeful that ECS will help me out, so I am looking to the forum to see what options I have, I can find a factory down pipe and be done with it, however, I like the little bit of extra exhaust note that this has currently.

if you're pretty certain that the flex pipe is to blame for the buzzing.... why not just have a local muffler shop weld in a new one? flex pipe is a universal component nothing special about it... problem solved

I was hoping that it wasn't the issue and that someone else has a better seasoned ear and can tell me it is something else.

Kind of frustrating when a brand new pipe is bad.

I was waiting for someone to make a thread about this.

I also have the ECS valved exhaust on my car, the flex failed after 4 years of use. My muffler hanger welds cracked and started separating from the exhaust muffler putting a giant hole in it. The exhaust got a LOT louder in the 4 years that I had it. The whole exhaust is made from low quality materials, so honestly I'm not surprised.

I reached out to ECS, they told me the exhaust is not under their life time warranty and to take it to an exhaust shop to get it fixed. At this point I ended up getting vibrant replacement components and fixed the exhaust myself. Afterwards I dropped them a fun google review. 24 hours after the google review I got multiple phone calls and a email trying to follow up with me. They offered me replacement parts for the exhaust after I spent money fixing it myself. I declined.

If you want to get anywhere with them, I suggest you take it straight to google, their shitty customer service will not yield otherwise, seeing you've had the exhaust since 2020, yours definitely does not apply to their lifetime warranty policy.

That is what kills me, when I first had issues with the valve failing they sent a replacement without issue. It happened again and they told me to try penetrating oils, I soaked the thing for weeks (not hyperbole) and nothing fixed the seized valve. They wanted videos and pictures, which I gave, and eventually as I said in my OP, I just gave up on them. I bought the exhaust because it sounded nice in the videos and was a good price point. I now know why, it is garbage. I have been debating on going back to 100% stock and will probably do that. I am so disappointed by them.

Would you happen to have the part number for the Vibrant piece you used?

Dimensionally its a little bigger but it fits, no rubbing. The biggest trouble I had was trying to find a place that could tig weld it in. I ultimately ended up finding somewhat who had a mig with stainless wire, not the prettiest welds but good enough. I will likely replace the exhaust with a Milltek as some point.
