You need the new style yellow connector. It's a simple swap- release the pins, pull off old, push pins into the new one and lock.

If you just use the clockspring and keep your old module, the steering wheel will light up but buttons will not function. (no need for vag com, no cel's)

If you use the new clockspring and module, the dials will work and light up. You will need to vag com the steering angle sensor to get rid of the abs/brake lights.

Where can I find a diagram on how to wire up the airbag? Got my steering wheel installed, just need to order and install the bag.

Just wire one stage of the airbag to the existing connector. Easy

I just bought a B7 S4 steering wheel last night. My car is a 04 usp tiptronic, I dont care for the steering wheel controlls. Since I have an after market radio. I just want my horn and air bag to work.

Just like they said above, you still need a new clock spring and new connector that you will have to re-pin. Otherwise you want be able to connect the new bag. The problem with the b7 wheel is not the wheel, it's the bag.

I am new here, but long time ago I was reading this forum. So the problem is that. I have got Audi A4 B6 2004 with original 4 spokes MFSW (6 buttons), according this DIY I have bought steering column control module 8E0-953-549-Q, slip ring 4E0-953-541-A, ofcourse steering wheel with matching airbag and re wired connector with yellow and white wires. The problem is after this job done, my horn is not working, MFSW is not working too and it gives 01426 fault code and of course airbag light is on. What need to do to solve that problem? And for the end, sorry for my poor english language...[:/]

B7 airbags will not work on a B6. Read THIS

Yes, about airbags i know. I have read alot of forums about one stage and dual stage air bags. Main problem is horn and MFSW buttons with no lights up and vcds fault on it...since i have changed module and ring, what can be else wrong?

Of course. I have try adapt new module and code it, but it coded correctly like it was before (old B6 steering wheel with MFSW)

I am thinking maybe something wrong with new slip ring, maybe it is defective or it is incompatible because it is from A6 C6, and control module from A4 B7, but parts numbers are the same as in the DIY.

Why didn't you just reuse your old module and slip ring. If your car came with MFSW then it should work. Others have used the B6 one without issues.

I am worry about re wiring wires to old connector since it is plug and play :( and other thing I have buyer my old B6 MFSW parts.

I would try a new clockspring from a B7 and see if that works first.

Bought used B7 clockspring and I think I found a problem. At the moment I can't try put it on car, but as I see in the new clockspring and remember old one (which is installed now), it misses contacts to the yellow and white wires connector. That is kind of strange. Later I will try new clockspring and I will add some photos.

And yes, problem solved. As PreciseD told, I bought another clockspring from B7 and realized that my old clockspring was missing 4 pins for yellow connector. So now everything working. No faults, no lights on instrument cluster. Thanks for help and ideas!

What radio do you have? Symphony2+? RNSE?

No and the airbag wont work either. You should consider getting rid of it for something that actually works.

I though I read a thread that you can get the paddles to work with Tiptronic? I might be mistaken though.

I still have a black B7 MFSW with all the parts for sale (clock spring, air bag, etc..). Decided not to use it. PM me.

You can buy a wheel from a 09 up A5 and a single stage airbag from a Euro A1. This is the only way to get a functional airbag with MFSW without doing a dangerous airbag swap. No Dual stage airbags will work in our cars and to do it would be foolish (speaking from my own experience here).

Unfortunately, if you want a single stage airbag and MFSW from a newer car than a B6, the paddles will now work.

Maybe anyone knows, does steering wheel and steering angle sensor from A8 D3 is the same as A4 B7?

There is a guy on Ebay near London that I bought all my airbags from. Then you will need this style wheel and re pin the harness like this.

im kinda new here , i have A4 B7 2007' , it originally had the 4 spoke non multi wheel. Now i have 3spoke RS4 wheel , and i bought the complete steering wheel console (module ,slip ring, cruise control , wipers etc.) so the question is , can i only plug everything on or it will require VCDS/Vag-com adaptation ? the code on the module is 8E0 953 549 Q (the owner said it has the heated steering wheel option also) it comes from 2008 B7 with MSFW. Thank you !

That's not an answer to the question

Yes, you will need Vcds for SAS adaptation/calibration and probably to recode your abs module since with new parts it very often forgets it's coding.
