I own a Q7 with the Bose sound system. My passenger door panel rattles from certain songs and mine is starting to slightly. It drives me bat shit insane, I usually set my bass and treble to either neutral or +2. I took this to the dealer 3 times and nothing was done and now I find out my "special 1 year warranty that would cover this" expired and I was never even told it existed. All my music is either 256 or 320 bitrate so I'm not using 128 bitrate files. It seems to be certain frequencies.
I have certain rattles that come and go depending on driving conditions and music type too. I find if I apply pressure to certain pieces it tends to go away. I installed dynamat in my tacoma years ago and it took care of any and all door rattles, but not sure I'd want to be taking my audi doors apart. Might be worth looking into though since the dealer isnt going to fix it

Not sure this applies to yours, but I have to give kudos to my dealer for finding this because it was driving me nuts... After a particularly "bass-y" hammering of the B&O goofing around with my son, the driver's door developed a rattle that you'd hear on certain notes. Certain road textures could also set off a twang here and there. It sure sounded like a door panel rattle, but damned if I could do anything to make it better or worse. Next service, the dealer tech spent quite a while trying to diagnose it and finally ended up driving around with the door panel off. One of the window track bolts was backed off just enough that a jolt here and there would cause the track to resonate given the right conditions. Some lock-tite and tightening, and I haven't heard a peep since.
What I think I'll do is take my car to them during my next oil change and find a song that I know makes that sound and have them sit in the car with me so they can actually hear what I hear. They usually just put on the radio and the radio doesn't cause this problem.Quote:

Take off the door panel, or pay the dealer or an audio shop to take off the door panel. Replace any loose clips that may have held it, they're often plastic clips that can break or distort. Install some thin dense foam tape (good pharmacies carry this, dense white foam "adhesive" tape instead of plain cloth) to shim out the panel, and that probably will be enough. Dynamat isn't cheap, but it also stops a lot of road noise, although Audi doesn't have much of that to begin with.(G)
If your car just passed the 1-year point and the dealer is saying "rattles" are only covered during the first year? Call Audi directly, explain that you took the car in several times during that warranty and the dealer didn't fix the loose panel, and now he's saying it is out of warranty. In the US, as long as you brought it into them DURING the warranty period, if they didn't fix it, they still have to perform the warranty repair at no charge. You made a "timely claim" under state and federal warranty laws.
