Got a tiptronic. Thinking about getting apr 93oct and I'm wanting to find out the difference to 60 from stock which is 6.5 secs for tiptronic.
How much horsepower and torque is the chip adding?
Using one of those android apps I got a 0-60 of 5.5 secs on an Avant. I'm not stock but I don't know what tune I have and have not gotten to see what turbo is on it. I do have an ABD cold air intake and Neuspeed cat back exhaust. I've been able to hold off a 2011 camaro SS (manual) so that gives some idea of power. Have also held off an e93 M3 until about 125 when I lost out. A shop did tell me that I boost about 22psi if that helps understand things.
There are 2 things that ruin the 0-60 times for the tip. First is off the start the turbo will lag...then there is the slow shift of the tip.
Not sure if this helps?
With just a chip, and NO launch, I would hit 60 in about 5.2sec.
However I'm 6speed so.....there.
That sounds about right. With a launch you should be under 5 seconds....which is what I would guess for myself if I had a manual instead of the tiptronic.
OP: The stock numbers of 6.5 seconds are under best conditions usually. I wonder how many of the stock cars are doing 6.5 these days at over 10 years old and over 100k miles on them.
the turbo will lag yea cant truly launch but you can stall the converter!!
i would say the cars gear ratio being numericaly lower than the 01e 4.11 is a big factor but the first gear ratio on the tip coupled with torque multiplication might get it close
then weight
and the tip shifts slower than a human pushing a clutch in ,letting off the throttle , moving a lever then reapplying throttle while letting out the pedal??
one of the appeals of a auto is no loss of boost letting off the throttle...
but i am def no b5 expert so i could be way offf...
I guess you can 'brake boost' with a tip but the ECU limits throttle under a certain rpm so the tip will never truly launch from a stop like a manual.
The tip does shift incredibly slow. Even from forward to reverse it takes so much time. There are tip TCU upgrades available aparently that make it shift properly....also you can use VAG-COM to put the tip into some kind of sport shifting. Its a shame it doesn't shift like newer 'clutchless manuals' do....
In stock form the tip is a full second slower than the manual....to give you an idea on the tip vs manual overall.
got the same chip in my stock allroad and wow it was a huge increase in power, you cant really tell the difference in just watching a video but damm that thing hauled ass compared to stock, and when i had my last s4 that was TIP that was even faster. at a light you can brake boost it and i was able to spin the front tires a little on bad pavement. it is well worth the money even if you have a TIP
i did ride in a TIP s4 with a chip and a tranny chip and those combined really woke that car up
i did a in city race with another stage 1 s4 that was a 6speed and a very good driver and since i was able to brake boost it off the line i got him every time its was insta-boost, on the freeway he would very slowly start to pull on me
This thread makes me want to explode, so many random comments.
Tips have a much higher drivetrain hp loss and even chipped shift slower then a good driver in a 6MT.
A Stage 2 with an RS4 clutch should be anywhere to under 5 to 5.2 seconds 0-60. A good stage 3 clutch, good tires, coilovers, all new upgraded mounts, and a stage 2 tune with launch control and NLS will probably do 4.3 (random guess)
I know on my 6MT I was reading it went from a 5.2 to 5.0 flat or something like that.
All I know is it went from being neck and neck with my buddy's e46 convertible m3 to slightly faster lol
but that's a APR.
there are more high performance tunes.. but take into account your k03s
Correct: A stock S4 tip 0-60 mph is around 6.5 seconds and with a chip either Giac or Apr you will be looking at a mid 5 second car IF HEALTHY. In my case... doing the whole "brake boosting" thing actually results in a slower 0-60 time as there is load intervention until I take my foot off the brake. The fastest I ever got with my Tip and my hybrid's was 4.4 seconds on a 20 degree day(gps+logged) and no tip chip. Some full Stage 3 tips with an updated torque converter.. higher stall speed.. and a tune specifically allowing brake boosting have broke the 4 second barrier.. usually around 3.8 seconds. From everything I have looked up a tip chip will gain you about 0.2 seconds on a 0-60 which is quiet impressive thinking about it.
4.4 nice!
This was today. Ambient 60 Degrees

0-20mph 1.50 Seconds
0-40mph 2.85 Seconds
0-60mph 4.65 Seconds
As recorded via ME7 Logger (50 framer/second)
I cannot wait to finish my Meth Kit install. Should help a lot. Also I need a tip chip badly.
best I did with my stage 2 (6mt) was 5.1... with a passenger.
I regularly do 5.5ish seconds in the summer...
Have NO IDEA how other stage2 people get it under 5 seconds without launching
7.2 a6 apr stage 1 tip [headbang]
its only heatsoak if you drove it hard before doing a 0-60 ...
Unless he did in the afternoon summer heat or smth like that.
Change the air/fuel filter, change the sparks, get a boost gauge.
Cars can get 'old and tired' like the guy above said, but that's not an excuse.
Don't we prove that daily with our stage 3 (and 2) S4s ? 12 year old cars beating on new sport sedans etc
Also, it depends how you measure it.
Stopwatch CAN be very undependable.
Android apps - 50/50 chance to get it right.
Counting the seconds on youtube or a video player - no good.
True.
I know my ko3 arent the sharpest of tools.
but i still get an ocassional 5second sprint :P
I'm thinking 4 sub second car 100%
I didn't launch my car good twice and got 4.9 seconds on my stage 3. I bet a better driver could get 4.5 or less.
Tonight I did 6 sec without launch control and forgt to turn stability control off.
GIAC chip, cat back exhaust, 6 speed LOOONG throw ;).
I was selling a ecu (w/ giac) last year and I found this info. I don't remember the source, but there were graphs and a lot of info.

I did 2 runs with android apps got 7.2 -7.6 ( different days ) .... Then I shot video

That doesn't show up

I'll do a me7 logger run to see what I get
