Hi.

First of all i am looking for the coolant flow diagram for my A4 B7 1.9 TDI, so i would be very happy if someone can show me?

I have a crazy idea i would like to test.
For about 6 years i have had issues with my coolant spitting out of the expansion tank because of exhaust getting into the coolant system, either because of a faulty head gasket or crack in the head. The workshop is saying my best solution is to change the engine, but i wont give up that easy.
My solution up to this point have been to put a bottle under the expansion tank and collect the coolant and then put it back in the tank. Because of all the air caused by the exhaust in the coolant system i have no heat inside the cabin, as i live in Norway, it gets crazy cold in the winter.

I am currently building my self a air separator that i am going to place inline with the coolant system. So my hope is that the exhaust will be separated when it flows through my device, before it gets stuck inside the hoses and stopping the coolant flow inside the heater core.
I am trying to figure out the best position for my air separator. Can someone show me where the coolant exit the engine and which hose?
I have taken out the EGR so my initial though was to place my air separator between the coolant hoses that was going to the EGR, will this be the best spot for it?

Thanks in advance!

Before you venture down that path, it's not going to work the way you think it will. Air separator is going to be looking for atmospheric/low pressure and a place to "dump" the air. The coolant system is pressurized to raise the boil temp. Those two together are a contradiction.

Well, are you sure of that? The Flamco Xstream or Flexvent air separator has a maximum pressure of 10 Bar, the pressure in the coolant system is way less.
