So I'm not getting any noises or handling issues but I did notice that the outer boot on the passenger side CV axle has a tear in it and shot grease all over. Instead of replacing just the boot I'm considering to replace both front CV axles complete since they're both original with 120k miles on them. Can someone recommend a good brand that won't break the bank? I know you kinda get what you pay for but I'm trying to convince myself it's better to replace both axles now instead of just the boot even though the joints are still functioning properly and a $25 boot kit compared to $1000 for OEM axles does sound much better even though for long term it's not the correct move.

GKN. They were the OEM for your car. Their aftermarket CV’s are about 99% as good as the ones they made for Audi. They sell boot kits too, CV kits, and whole axles. grab em for $15-20 on rockauto if you can figure out the boot kit part numbers.

Ok I'll look into them. Any suggestions on who sells them at the best price? I guess Rockauto?

You really will do just fine with new boot and regrease. New axle is unnecessary. The OEM is very sturdy as long as it has grease.

Raxles seems to be the go to for most people.

raxles if your cv’s are busted, if not then GKN boots, their kits come with a pack of grease and a clamp. they’re oem, if you look at your oem boots you’ll see they aren’t even stamped with audi logos or part numbers, only gkn logos and gkn part numbers.

I just replaced mine with some Autozone varieties...240 for both fronts. Now that the factory ones are removed, I plan on sending them out to Raxles for a quality rebuild.
