Hey so my airbag light came on the other day. I plugged my scanner in and it comes up with a 01212 code (rear passenger seat seatbelt). Does anyone have experience in trouble shooting this? I'm assuming I pull the backseat and check the plug connection at the rear passenger seatbelt? If so should I be looking for something specific? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.Check wiring going to the buckle latch as our cars are starting to get old, not too long ago I had to pull out my driver-seat cause the wiring going to said buckle was frayed and throwing an airbag light. A quick solder job later and the problem hasn't come back.

I really recommend using VCDS instead of a general-shop tool for this but if you can see input/output values you could determine if it's wiring or the buckle assembly itself based on if the circuit closes or not when you plug the seatbelt back in.... Hope this helps.

Ok thanks for the response. I'll check out the wiring. Can you tell if the scanner code is for the passenger front seat or rear seat? In the pic you can see the description says rear seatbelt but not sure if the abbreviation "frt" is meaning front passenger, though it would be confusing since it does say rear belt tensioner.

Sorry for the late response, hard to tell as each scanner that ISN'T VCDS might interpret the code differently. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'd guess it's the front passenger side for the simple fact that you can move the seat forward/backward unlike the rear (more movement = more likely for wiring to go bad)

I reset the code and it hasn't come back yet so I didn't look into it further. If it returns I'll definitely check the wiring out under the front passenger seat. Thanks for the help.
