Just got a weird scare by my car. Was just driving along very calmly at low rpm on a straight flat road and got a sudden red-colored coolant level light. Warning said "Turn off engine. Check coolant level."

As I turned off to stop, the warning went away, so it was on for about 10 seconds. Everything back to normal. I checked oil temp and it was at 94 C. Temp gauge on the dash was right in the middle too. Then I immediately stopped, checked coolant level, and the top of the line was slightly above MAX (I might have overfilled just slightly). Checked the codes with OBD11 and there were none.

Should I be concerned?

Should I be concerned?I had the exact same thing on my 2014 S4 with 147k miles a month or so ago. Coolant level was fine. Warning went away after a short time. Reoccurred briefly a few days later. After the first time I started monitoring coolant temp with OBD reader and it's always been ~205°F after warmup.

I pulled up the coolant overflow tank and checked the level sensor connector on the bottom. Didn't look corroded or damaged at all, but I put a few drops of electrical connector cleaner on it and put it back together.

Hasn't happened again, so I guess I'll just keep driving until something else happens.
