My A4 is a 1998.5 1.8tqms FYI... Mods are listed in my sig.

I recently (2k miles ago) had my Southbend OFE HD clutch installed with my stock resurfaced FW and I love it except for the engagement point. I don't know if all of them are like this, but mine feels like it engages at the last second. It doesn't slip or anything but it literally feels exactly how my old stock clutch did before it went out. I've never launched the car and I made sure to go extra easy on it for the first 1,000 miles. Do all OFE HD clutches engage like this or is something wrong with mine? TIA!

when i first backed my car out of the bay after installing my southbend it released pretty near the floor...after driving it a little while it was back to releasing near the top

mine feels exactly like stock did, and it engages right up top, just like yours does

Question for you HD guys, does pedal effort feel exactly like stock for all of you? I have no idea which pressure plate I have, it's either Sachs HD or SS, but it's for sure a lot stiffer than stock.

My SB Stg 5 (basically the top rated model) feels just like stock pedal wise. It's a hell of alot "grabier" but the feel is the same.

Right when I picked mine up, I got in the car and pushed the clutch down, I almost stalled in reverse right there when I tried to go. Mine's pretty stiff to push down, and very springy coming back. If you've ever driven an e46 m3, it feels like that but stiffer. Still, it's very easy to drive after I got used to it, a little grabby in the cold but I love it.

I got in my friends Jetta GLI once, pushed the clutch down and I thought my foot was going to go thru the floor haha.

HA!!! Same feeling you get after driving bitterchilds WOA Stg3 clutch. After driving his car for 2 weeks, my left leg was disproportionately stronger than my right. [:D]

i have the ss pressure plate and it takes a bit of force. i forgot how much until i drove a friend's jetta tdi wagon. that clutch pedal didn't know what hit it. try pushing your clutch pedal with the right leg once and it'll remind you how stiff it is.

Cool, thanks guys. I'm glad to hear it's not just mine. I'm kinda scared to launch it tho because it engages so late... I'll get over it haha

Barry, sounds like you have a SS if it's either the HD or the SS. Most people can't tell the difference between the HD and the oem pressure plate

hey is there any way to change the engagment point
(my old car you could just unscrew a "finger" on the throw out rod)
