hi , sorry if this has been asked before .
I need to program new keys to my 07 b7 a4 , can this be done besides going to the dealer ( vag-com) ?
if so can you point me in the right direction ?
thanks

Needs SKC (Secret Key Code) to complete the process - dealer is the only one who can provide that info.

You can have a mobile locksmith do it, just gotta find the right ones. I had a new key cut and programmed when I lost my keys. Was a process, took about 2-3hrs, but charged me ~$250 iirc. Cheaper than a dealer, and don't need to have it towed. Did it in my garage.

Might call local locksmith to see . I washed the fob , lost remote lock/unlock . Have to do the airbag recall , I'll see what dealer quotes me when I call.

Was a pretty tedious process, not how I thought it would be done.

i had a mobile locksmith do mine no problem. he even had blank crypto48 chips to replace mine, but i had already purchased mine online. had a blank already in the key ready for him to burn.
20 minutes and i had 2 keys.

ok this is more info ....

the key has two distinct functions..

There is a crypto chip in the key, in a special compartment to start the car .

Does your car start and run ? if so the crypto is fully functional and works. thi sis the most important part.

The remote functions can indeed be done with VCDS. you have to find out is your car still " sees" the key with your buttons pressed.. if so it probably just needs clearing and recoding with VCDS.

I bought a spare for mine , put my chip in it from my old key to start the car , and used VCDS to enter my new key for remote and unlocking . No issues.
