Hey all, hoping for some help with a problem I've been dealing with. I’m getting the ESC light, steering light, and messages for "stabilization fault" and "sport differential fault." This started soon after I got the car, along with the left-side passenger windows and reverse guide lines not working. I swapped the battery with an aftermarket one from Amazon, not realizing it needed BEM coding. The issues disappeared briefly, but then came back after a few days. Both left-side windows still don’t work, but the driver's side is fine.

I bought OBDEleven and pulled some fault codes. After a lot of digging, I realized I never coded the battery properly. A few months went by (I got busy), and I assumed I probably messed up the battery. Checked Block 19 on the gateway control module, and it showed 0% SoC.

I decided to get a new Varta battery (610 402 092) and installed it, but it didn’t come with a BEM code. I coded "000915105DL" for the part number, "VAO" for the manufacturer, and grabbed a serial number from another 110Ah Varta battery I found online, changing the last digit. After that, Block 19 still shows 0% SoC, and Block 20 shows the battery capacity at 52Ah, so it seems like I still messed up the programming.

Not sure if the battery is still the issue or something else. Checked all the fuses in the ECU fuse box, and they’re all good. I’m stuck in a pretty rural area in Japan with no nearby Audi dealerships, and there’s a language barrier since I don’t speak Japanese. Really hoping to fix this myself. Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Did you do anything else besides changing the battery? I have no experience using a non-oem battery. One relevant bit is that abs, stability, rear differential and a few other systems are all interconnected since they all rely on inputs from each other. Something like a disconnected wheel speed sensor would throw errors in all of them at once.

No, unfortunately I did not. Do you think those systems would also be tied to the predictive lines you see when you reverse? The lines that help you back into a parking spot. I ask because the first time the issue occurred, those lines also disappeared until I replaced the battery.

I think I can use OBDeleven live data while driving and verify that I’m getting good wheel speed from each of the sensors

Have you checked the fuses in the block in the trunk on the right side?

I’ve got some accessories in my car wired in through there and had some strange codes pop up while I was installing those that I think might be similar to the codes you’re seeing.

Don't know why you have voltage errors on the front right and rear left doors, and not the others, or any other modules. But the only "real" error in all that seems to be:

1B Active Steering
01087 - Basic settings not carried out

So you need to do the dynamic steering basic setting.

Thank you so much! This fixed the issue! I went ahead and did the dynamic steering basic setting and the lights went away. I’ve been trying to fix this issues for a few months now. After your help, my wife teased and said I should’ve just reached out to this forum months ago haha.

My car is right hand wheel drive. Both left side passenger door windows are still not working. When I press the switch, I hear a clicking noise on each respective door. Is there something that’s wired in series or a fuse that is just for the left side windows? I imagine it has to be something in common between the two windows. Below are the codes I’m still getting for both windows.

The B8.0 left side doors share power fuses. And the B8.0 right side doors share power fuses. (for B8.5, they figured out they only needed one power supply line to the door modules, so same idea, just one fuse each side)

The B8.0 left side doors have fuses at panel C (driver's end of the dash), column brown, fuse 8 and fuse 11. Check and make sure both those fuses are showing 12v on each side (the metal test pads on the top face are one on each side of the fuse link). The column brown on the dash ends is term 30, battery 12v, so they should show 12v at all times.

You’re one smart person! The fuse was bad so I put a new one in and now it’s all good to go. Thank you for all of your help, you saved me from shelling out so much money trying to work it with a Japanese mechanic.

No problem, glad it turned out to just be simple stuff.
