I'm wondering if the Nav+ is worth it to try to buy aftermarket and if i'd be nervous having such a system in my car visable. If i had a TomTom or something else I'd probably take with or hide, but NAV+ not really an option.
Any ideas on some options in this area?
I was all hot for an RNS-E when it came out then got TomTom for my Treo650 and a Bluetooh GPS receiver instead.
It's cheaper, portable and I could use it in any car.
As much as I wanted the SD card capability the RNS-E offers it wasn't worth the money.
I suggest you really sit down and think if you need such a device.
Getting a portable TomTom and sepnding the extra $1000 on performance mods would be a better ida.

Nav+ pays for itself...over time :) its one of those things you wont use every day, but when you do, you're going to be really glad you have it!
The graphical interface is one of the cleanest and slickest in the industry. I'd get it just for the OEM integration, and plug and play install, however it is SO much more than just a NAV unit. It is your stereo (am/fm, mp3, cd), bluetooth telephone interface (if you opted for it) and you can even turn it into a monitor for whatever you wish to display (with an extra adapter).
While an external unit is transferable, that means that you'll have to remember to bring it!
The one downside to RNS-E unit is text input, its clunky and not very fast with the wheel...at least it auto completes names for you.
In the end you can get it cheaper than as a pkg from Audi, and its a really easy install. Bottom line is it doesnt get much better than being made specifically for your car...and Lambos too :)
