Hi all,
I was driving in stop and go traffic earlier today and my car died. The mmi and mfd went black and then so did the cluster and warning lights. I don't actually remember what happened with the gauges because I was too panicked with pulling into the turning lane (thankfully I was driving in the left lane so I was able to pull out of traffic immediately). I only remember the abs light and the epc light coming on before I tried cycling the ignition. I turned it off and on and it came right back to life and I haven't had any issues since (~40 miles ago?). I haven't had an opportunity to run a vcds scan yet but it's the first thing I'm gonna do when I get home. This would probably be a can bus issue or something right?

Scan it and report back, no one can help you with out seeing what the codes are.

I just pulled the codes and it looks like it's dying because everything is shutting down to protect itself from over voltage. The highest on here is a 19.8v at the can gateway - kinda crazy. Is this an alternator or battery thing? Scan here (https://pastebin.com/TCZfVnHw)

I'd think that'd be a faulty voltage regulator.

Just ordered a new Valeo one. Are there any write-ups or videos on the replacement?

If you can find an alternator replacement guide/video it'll basically be the same, the VR lives on the back of the alternator.
