About two years ago I began experiencing fault issues with my Left Inner Tail Light assembly. At first, it was a brief fault in my dash display that would go away within a day, if not same day. Over the following couple of months, the fault appeared more & more often. I finally replaced the assembly and all's been fine until this week.

I took my car through a tunnel car wash Monday, which I do only about twice per year. The automated car washes often create micro-scratches in the paint and I don't mind hand washing anyway. That same afternoon, I noticed the tail light fault in the dash display and my left turn signal was blinking rapidly. All issues disappeared by the following morning and have not reappeared.

The fact that this fault arose immediately after a rare automated car wash got me thinking. Is it possible that simply going through a tunnel car wash would cause issues with the harness connection?

You most likely have a faulty seal and water is getting to the harness/bulbs if you noticed it right after a car wash.
