Did a search and most comments were associated with other elements. Just completed this tonight and overall all went well and controls work, but threw these two lights and when clearing with vcds, they come right back. I did remove negative battery terminal before installing and placed back on after finishing before starting car.

Any ideas what may be causing? Codes are airbag ignitor resistance too low and parking brake dtc is associated with airbag and works as intended still.

Might want to give a better and detailed description of what you are talking about.

I have had double digit S4's that Ive owned and I've been a member here for a long time and I have no idea what FBSW means. What did you do to the car exactly and what did you do if anything in VCDS.

Flat bottom steering wheel - fairly common terminology here.

Only aspect i can think of is possible loose connection or tied to battery terminal removal. I saw other posts stating similar issues with these two items connected but resolutions didn't seem to be relevant here, which included a seat belt change and some sort of purple airbag connector under seat.

What wheel and airbag did you buy? From where?

b8.5 wheel and airbag. Both confirmed with part#s.

All features are fine - volume, mode, voice, etc. DSG paddles also work perfectly. Just throwing the two codes listed for Airbag, and related parking brake code.

You already tried clearing codes? Maybe it picked up that you had the yellow plug disconnected, which would pop that error.

N95 igniter (green connector, initial primary charge)
N250 igniter (orange connector, timed adaptive release)

For the B8.5, the harness is more of a less obvious yellow connector vs black connector, than the older more obvious green vs orange. But I'd expect the airbag sockets to be keyed so only the correct connector could be plugged in. Getting them backwards would be bad.

1 brown / 2 blue is for the horn
3 black / 4 green is for the N95 (central plug)
5 orange / 6 yellow is for the N250 (cable release plug)

But "resistance too low" is an uncommon one vs the frequent "resistance too high". Seems to be an indication of a poorly secured connector or such. You might want to check the terminal pins in the 12-pin yellow and make sure they're all seated well?

It seems the B1000 would be for the N95 and B1001 would be for the N250. The N95 should be on pins 3/4 right below the green tab.

Thank you - this is helpful. I did clear codes multiple times and the same ones return immediately unfortunately.

I did have to install the b8.5 wiring harness on the bag itself as the one i bought did not have it, and studied multiple photos and confirmed what you outlined. The n95 goes in center of the bag and the n250 was a side plug. AS you mentioned, both are different plugs to ensure appropriate placement. I suspect possibly something got loose in seating the bag on the wheel once pushed in. I will attempt to recitfy later and report back if fixes for others. Overall though, love the upgrade.

For anyone following, I was able to correct this. The large plug wasn't fully set with the lock initiated, so I reset it, and started car. Code was still there, so cleared them and cycled and started again and no code returned. I cycled again and checked just to be sure and all was still good. Before setting bag fully in clips, I waited until this point.

All in all, take your time with the connections and ensure each is fully set and firm.

Also, if you ever need to remove the airbag, it's a huge PITA vs the B8 with the clips. I found of all the tools and screwdrivers I had, a paint can opener worked the best by far.

Thanks for everyone's feedback on this.

Awesome, I installed a FBSW a couple years ago and have the same problem. I just figured the airbag died while installing it, so I thought I needed to buy a new one.

I’m definitely going to have to look into this.

Thanks for posting this!
