I have the Jackal tune in my car and its fantastic.
Not bashing any other tuner, but my car is faster, smoother, gets better fuel mileage, and has zero CEL's and issues.
I switched over when a larger tuning company couldn't figure out the fuel trims being off in their tune in my car. Matt fixed the issue easily and quickly and took as much time to walk me and my installer through it as needed. I couldn't even speak to a person on the phone to help me at the big tuner. I had to leave messages, bring it back to one of their approved flashing locations 3 times, for them to tell me there was nothing wrong with it and it must be something else in my car doing that..... If I left it alone it was running so rich it would have washed the rings out of my motor... the entire back of my car was black from the rich exhaust gases.
Matt saw the problem immediately and got the tune spot on the first time. We sent him logs back which he reviewed after a quick test drive and a few pulls, explained to us what he did and what was wrong, and made sure all our questions and concerns were addressed.
This is how you treat customers and people. I recommend everyone I can to Jackal/Matt. On top of being the best, fastest, smoothest, they are the least expensive and by far the best customer service.

I have always wanted a flex fuel set up and the ability to just pull up and throw some e85 in and not worry about mixtures and reflashing. Is this something you think is possible? I do know that 034 said in a live chat there is no need for flex fuel as tunes are available for e40 and pump gas. I tend to disagree and think a flex fuel set up would be the ultimate move forward on this platform. Even if it were flex fuel up to e40 due to fuel system limitations.

This is my understanding of why a true flex fuel system isn’t really a reality on this platform. There’s no factory flex fuel sensor and there no real way to integrate it into the factory ECU and have full control.
Not to mention the fact that this car isn’t really designed to run ethanol at all and the power increases above E40 are marginal anyway.
The car rips on E40 anyway. Plus with Jackal’s speed sauce plus tune you’re injecting E80 into the system and getting some of the benefits that way. Maybe just look into that?
I’m having a blast on E40 and speed sauce plus.

I have zero interest in meth or anything else like that. The whole reason I’d like a flex fuel tune is cause I don’t want to mess with anything or add anything. I want to just pump and go. I’ll have to just be happy on 93 I guess.
I understand your point about never being designed to run ethanol. The 8v cars and mk7s have full flex tunes from IE and they were never flex fuel either so Maybe they will come up with something someday.

The difference with that platform is IE was able to wire in a flex fuel sensor to the factory ECU and IE was able to support it.
If our ECU doesn’t support that then we can’t get it.

Yup. Just verified what I thought. The factory ECU for that platform already had that architecture in place. It just wasn’t being used.
IE simply unlocked it and wired in a sensor for full factory ECU control.

Where there's a will (and skill), there's a way. 4.0T is not natively flex fuel, either, yet it is possible to have flex fuel with DS1. many other German cars are not natively flex fuel, yet there're many tuners offering flex fuel capability for them. I'm sure most of the big-name tuners on this platform are capable of implementing flex fuel, it's just that they didn't have to do it to be competitive. 034 just said it "doesn't make the car faster". Jackal seems to be more agile and willing to listen to feedback at the moment, so my guess is they will be the ones to do it first.

You still have to work within the constraints of the factory system no matter what platform it is. Some have less constraints than others. [emoji1303][emoji1303]

What would the cost be to switch?

I did and would... only way to be 100% sure there won't be any problems as I was told by various tuners and folks here.
That being said 99% you'd be ok if you don't (I'm told) but I'd rather not be the 1% with a problem for an extra half hour at most of tuning time to return to stock... cheap insurance.
just my 2c
good luck and if you don't flash back to stock first, report back if you have any problems
thanks!

034 DOES offer a file for this hardware and its under the "superduper" throttle body file.
I am currently using apr ultracharger + 034 file.

Are the time intervals and speeds as per standard or have you altered them to show better results?
I know it's an odd question but based on the alterations in your ecu files I think it's warranted.

How would time slips be altered unless they are photoshopped? I think that's a pretty far reach. Highly unlikely that the slips are not authentic. I can't see any blatant evidence of being photoshopped.

It was a slight toward their blatant use of altering values in their ECU files to show results they want and not actual reality.
There are many examples of this including raising the knock voltage allowance to avoid timing correction to removing catalyst protection schemes.
Which are very dangerous to users engines..
And NO... They never told customers this was happening. The exact opposite in fact.
If you turn off all safety factors and run the engine in 0 F's given mode.. yea you can get crazy performance.. For a little while anyway.

The Knock Sensors were calibrated correctly we just run less timing which is why the shop cars we post aren't blowing up. If you don't think the big guys are doing the same thing, then your sadly mistaken. I would go back to the bundle of files you must have to make a statement that assumes making more power doesn't involve this, or does, grab the FR which is publicly available and see right from the videos shared that the equations are in fact the same. So the point of not saying anything was, everyone is doing this, no one has figured out still why the way Jackal is doing it is faster though. Both the A6 and S4 ran back to back to back all day with no issues only stopping to talk to the Jackal, APR, and IE fans that were at the dragway and wanted to talk with us. the Shop SQ5 is running the Merc Blower flawlessly hot lapping all day long in the 10s... the only thing that broke was the rear subframe... there are other merc customers running both the 93 and E tunes by Jackal and lastly the Shop A6 is the first car to have a fully OTS Injection system on the CREC based platform which is being released. This will or course be repeated and cloned to expand all of the platforms. But we are definitely the bad guys because we didn't spend 100,000$ making a slander video and posting it on Youtube. but if saying the knock sensors are turned up, but some other company says they "calibrated theirs" and that's why we don't see any knock please take a deeper look at all the logs and see its just running the right amount of timing. Or there would indeed be multiple posts a week of people flashing and after the first pull their car broken down and is making a metal grinding noise now... I really am sorry that we got to the platform late but everyone missed the B6/B7 crew and it took us a while to get to the B8. Hope this helps you in some way, just out to make more power and have fun doing it.

It's about lies... If you do it and say... Yea we do it. We don't want you to see ignition correction. We dont' want the ECU to limit power based on safety factors so we turn it off. That's fine.
But when you say the opposite.. That's the problem. You don't seem to understand that part of it.
It's the lies....
Matt Barrington...
"We keep a lot...you know we keep all our safeties in place with our tuning"

Sorry you feel that way, you should definitely go look at the other files you have to make sure your not being betrayed elsewhere. First its about the car can only run that long before its gonna blow up, now its matt lied... So make up your mind either you want a hug from matt in which case if you guys need a hug, ill make sure he gets a ticket to your town so you can do that... hugs help internet bullies for sure we see it all the time, specially on youtube. Jackal is building out platforms one by one, we have a great track record for building fast reliable tunes on our cars, we buy every car to test on our own things first. If your beef is that your upset the tune we built isn't blowing stuff up yet because of an internet posted slander campaign... then i wouldn't hold your breath. The B9 will prove this as its released because "everyone" has been pushing that platform way to hard without any help to fix the problem and its not anywhere near as forgiving as the b8. This you will see as when we release our stage 3 it will have something special. Matt is one of the most caring people you will meet he works endless hours keeping thousands upon thousands of customers happy all by himself. He does this while managing a family, part time firefighter, and many other personal things. so please if you want to talk about matt in a negative way take it to a DM with him and finish it up, its getting really old.

Bro….SQ5’s are lucky to run 10.9’s with ported blowers. WTF are you even talking about [emoji1787]
Jackal’s Merc blower SQ5 missed the SQ5 record by like .03 seconds on its very first trip to the track and it was able to run 10 passes in 4 hours. Every run was well into the 10’s. I was there [emoji1787]
And 034/IE cars running 10.79 on the stock blower is par? WTF are you talking about [emoji88]
Up until VERY recently there were ZERO 034 stock blower 10 passes. Now you think every stock blower 034 car runs 10’s?

LINK TEMPORARILY REMOVED TO CORRECT ERRORS
I'm very well aware that there are differences between models such as transmission, weight, wheelbase length, and aero properties due to shape.
Feel free to share more slips/dragy and I'll be happy to add them. I wasn't able to find as many Jackal 1/4 mile times as I had hoped to.
This could be due to the places I am searching, and the fact that the tune hasn't been around as long as the others.

I just ran a few 1/8th mile passes in -1000 DA on E40 on the “unsafe” Jackal tune.
I also have over a dozen 7 second 60-130’s
So many 034 ported blower cars have paid the price chasing 7’s in negative DA over the years all the while I can just run 7’s from -1000 to +1000 DA with Jackal. The only thing that changes is how far into the 7’s I go.
Javad is a politician at heart. Accuse your rival of being what you are is the oldest campaign tactic there is.
More and more people are seeing this which makes me happy.
As far as the safeties go, you should see what the real high HP V8 tuners do. Many of them just turn the knock sensors completely off. [emoji1787]

Everything about your leaderboard is wrong. [emoji1787]
You have Fred Zimmer running 9.9 in a B8 Q5 when the best he ever ran was a 10.9. Only B9’s can run 9’s with stage 3 turbos.
You have Jorge running 10.5 in a B8 SQ5 when the best he ever ran was like an 11.3. There’s literally zero B8 SQ5’s running 10.5. None.

I have been around the car game long enough that the first car I modded was an 86 mustang svo. Many many tuners desensitize the knock system. Let’s just let the results speak for themselves. Jackal has barely a fraction of the tunes running on this platform compared to 034. As more and more use their tune it will show if their methods are a problem or not. Only time will tell. You also need to understand that sometimes when you push things shit just breaks it doesn’t necessarily mean it was the tune. You just need to wait and watch and establish a pattern before you say a tune is dangerously calibrated.
With that said a company should always be transparent on the changes they make. For instance say some safety systems are altered to prevent unnecessary interference due to increased engine noise and or exhaust temperatures.
Bottom line nobody really knows if it’s an issue yet so lighten up and just sit back and watch.

Jackal has far more cars tuned than people think/know, That’s for sure

Just the sheer punishment my own car has gone through in the last 30 days should be enough to put anybody’s mind at ease about Jackal’s software. Nevermind the rest of the year I’ve been pushing the car on their tune.
People can watch us all they want. Just keep watching us all succeed. Other tuner’s customers have blown up their cars trying to just run one 7 second 60-130. Mine just does it basically all the time on E40 and occasionally does it on 93 and meth too.
Hell, I hit 7’s on the stock blower a couple times [emoji1787]

Jackal has multiple stock blower S4’s running mid 10’s with very basic setups, a bench mark that the other tuners have trouble reaching with ported blowers. And we aren’t blowing up. A Jackal tuned stock blower S4 hit the 10.5 mark on E45 just this morning [emoji1787] And It’s valid. No slamming on the brakes and glitching out the dragy like some other clown posted. No glitched out 240 mph trap speed on one screen shot and a 117 MPH trap speed on another. A real 10.5 run, run out to 1320 feet.
Enough said. Less money, more power, better customer service and reliable.
If some of you can’t see the reality you’re brainwashed. [emoji2369]

Are the time intervals and speeds as per standard or have you altered them to show better results?
I know it's an odd question but based on the alterations in your ecu files I think it's warranted.
It’s a silly question quite frankly. A time slip is a time slip bud. And it’s just you reaching really far to try to find something to discredit.
These are the times I was able to get at the same track with a similar setup to the Jackal shop car. It’s just super consistent and repeatable. I can just run 10.6’s and 10.7’s all day any time.
I did about 80 1/4 mile passes this year on the Jackal tune and literally hundreds of 0-60’s. The car has never been better.

You have the guy who Literally has the fastest B8 S5 time of 9.9 on nitrous listed at 10.8. Nate Prater. Bro, your list is all Jacked up. Might as well throw it in the trash.

Okay babe you don't have to act tough in front of your friend group.
I will look at older file versions to identify when the names got all mixed up.
Really though, thanks for pointing it out.
I typed many of the times by hand and pasted in some from other spreadsheets while having beers.
It's obvious that at some point i misaligned some columns/rows.
You know at the end of the day we can all appreciate having more data to crunch.
Many of these times were not previously listed on any spreadsheet at all.
I myself haven't purchased a dragy yet so don't have access to that convenient leaderboard for my own interests.
Part of my goal really is to see where all the tuners stand in relation to eachother.
There was scarce data on stage 1 cars and a6/a7's which is really my main interest.
I don't ever want to play with dual pulley ratios or ethanol myself personally.
edit:if anyone wants to talk smack my dms are open i wont get offended. I'm not trying to deviate this thread from the topic of jackal tunes, which I do also want data for my own personal curiosity.

I switched to Jackal because everyone said I should try another tuner. Matt wanted to see what I would do on their tune since I could already run 10’s with APR. I was happy to do so. I had done everything I said I would do with APR so I had no reason not to. I paid for my APR BTW.
Maybe instead of focusing on what people want me to do or offer me, maybe you should focus on doing something worth paying attention to.
You would probably be shocked by the amount of offers I’ve had from vendors wanting me to demo their stuff. And I’m a nobody on social media.
It seems that the people who actually matter in this industry pay attention and like what I do so what makes you think your opinion of me actually matters to me?

The fact that anyone wants to argue about safety with a guy who has 50+ 10 second passes in a 6-7 month period is absurd to me. And quite a few of them are on the stock blower…..
If anyone was going to have a failure it would be me. Yet the worst thing that has happened is a few popped intercooler bricks which can happen to anyone and my stock cats finally let go which we all knew was bound to happen eventually to a 10 second S4.
You guys seriously need to realize that 034 put out that video for their own gain and they accuse Jackal of doing things they thought were just fine for almost a decade. They literally said in the video that Jackal’s tune looks very similar to one of their own past revisions. [emoji1787] They said this….
54 10 second passes this year and you want to talk to me about what is safe and what’s not?

You have Fred Zimmer running 9.9 in a B8 Q5 when the best he ever ran was a 10.9. Only B9’s can run 9’s with stage 3 turbos.
You have Jorge running 10.5 in a B8 SQ5 when the best he ever ran was like an 11.3. There’s literally zero B8 SQ5’s running 10.5. None.
You aren’t the guy for keeping track of this. No offense. Everything you post is wrong or just crazy. Again no offense.

Do you run regular Z rated radial tires?
Our cars are pretty respectable suspension wise and being awd getting out of the hole, I've always wondered about using 4 serious drag radials and maybe some more drag friendly suspension. I think with some tweaks a car running high 10s can knock off .20-.30 seconds in the 60 foot with a few properly executed changes in the tires and suspension.

Street tires are basically useless now. I couldn’t launch properly on a PS4S with my 19’s on my E45 tune and get a good time if there was a gun to my head.
I could launch on the lowest launch setting and get off the line without spinning too bad but it wouldn’t be fast. I have to run Hoosiers now to get good times. And sometimes I spin those too.
My suspension is bone stock and my engine mounts are stock too. I do have the 034 transmission mount though. I agree that a lot can be done with suspension tuning and I could definitely benefit from some stiffer rear shocks.

I went with Jackal after watching the 034 video. A good company doesn't need to bash another company if their own stuff is superior they will let their equipment/software etc speak for themselves. They also said that they waited for others to come out and say something but it never did so they finally said they would do it. I have yet to see anyones engine blow up with Jackal and my friend has been running it now forever, I have been running it for 2 months now and not 1 issue. Plus their customer service you can't beat, it seems like it doesn't matter the time of the day if you email them Matt replies within a couple of hours which means he cares about the products and his customers just like Tony said earlier. I think 034 was starting to lose a lot of customers (Due to Jackal offering their customers free changing between stages after purchasing the tune and tuning cable plus also including the TCU tune plus superior customer service) so they did whatever they could to discredit other companies to try stop the loss of customers to a rival business.

I don't believe they did it for the reasons you mentioned. They have lost far more customers to IE and APR over the years and never came out and attacked them in any way.
I think it was more because a big explosion of hype happened and everyone started talking about how jackal was superior to 034. 034 just felt they should inform the community of the false information jackal had stated. Jackal stated they do not alter any safety systems put in place to protect the engine. This was clearly shown to be false especially with the catalyst temp. It was completely turned off. 034 just simply showed that jackal is not playing by the same rules and of course if you alter these systems to not get in the way then of course you can get better performance.
Jackal is just willing to gamble a little more with the powertrain safety. Jackal is relying on their tuning ability to keep your engine safe when 034 feels they should rely on the factory systems in place. 034 even stated that if jackal had simply informed buyers of the alterations of safety systems the video would have never been made in the first place. It's quite simple. People would have known immediately why and how jackal was a little faster.
I'm not defending 034 or attacking jackal. Different tuning methods is all it is. 034 just felt people should have been made aware.

Nillious, respectfully, I don't think this is entirely accurate based on when my car was tuned by Jackal.
Ive been a part of tuning my car with Jackal with my mechanic/tuner and Matt personally and my mechanic asked a million questions about what was deactivated and minimized from the factory Audi parameters and what wasn't
If you wouldn't mind sharing what you're saying is turned off/manipulated in a jackal tune, I would comment as to what Matt and my mechanic discussed. My mechanic is very experienced with tuning, especially with Audi RS and S cars, BMW B58/Toyota Supra, BMW S58 and other BMW M cars, Nissan GTR and many other 90's and 2000s performance cars. He specifically went over and was insistent on keeping the factory safety nets in the Audi tune intact. It was a 40-60 min convo just about safety items, fueling, timing, boost in the tune on my S4 and my guy has since become a Jackal dealer and only sold the Jackal products since my car was done. So that says a lot.
I'm curious now if you wouldn't mind sharing your input/facts/opinions.

In September of 2024 when I made the full transition from APR to Jackal, there were no B8/B8.5 engine failures that have been reported running Jackal software. So they must be doing something right.
If you look at some of the other competitors, there's 1 that sticks out like a sore thumb as far as blown motors, and I bet there are many cars running out there that have not let go as of yet, but are going to either 1- have catastrophic failure and break, or 2- manage to not blow up but be a shit show when it comes time to have their engines freshened (the pistons, rings, and bores are going to be a horror show from lean conditions over time).

My understanding is they don't turn anything off they just desensitize settings due to more power making more sounds that are louder which can trigger the knock sensor(which is my take on what i think it was Tony that said that) and tell me one tuning company that doesn't do that. I can't speak for Matt but I don't think he purposely lied i just think he was saying that they don't do anything that the others don't do it just got worded wrong. I think we have all said something at some point and gone ohh shit I can't believe I said that that's not what I meant. Especially when someone that has a busy life and can still find time to reply to possible tens maybe hundreds of messages emails every day.
I dont even know either of them personally but it's just my observation how I see them interact in Facebook groups that makes me think they care about what they do and making sure our cars are safely tuned.

The knock sensitivity is not what I was referring to and doesn't concern me as much as the cat protection. I'm sure all tuners modify the knock tables to there own beliefs of what is noise and what is knock. I can only know what the video shows and it says the cat protection is essentially disabled. Maybe jackal can clarify what this means.

I think 034 is butthurt that Jackals tune is faster and has no failures so they take to youtube and make a 2 hour long video to try and discredit Jackal/Matt. Nobody on here has the hardware or software to look at what they are looking at (034) so who is going to question their claims?
All I know is that I've never heard of a single Jackal engine failure at all in my time connected to the B8-8.5 community, and I've had 4 different software/ECU remaps in my cars over the years..... Jackal is by far the fastest and smoothest of all of them.
034 has had MANY publicized engine failures, so if they are that good at reading these files and making the cars run so well with all the parameters in place, why are they the only tuner that you hear of cars blowing up from? It sounds to me that they are jealous that this small not very established tuning company is kicking their ass and is faster. has less issues with the cars, and is just plain better with better customer service than they are after they spent millions of dollars on their tuning platform.
So instead of being men and making things better and competing the old fashioned way, they would rather cry like a bunch of Cu*ts on the internet and post lies in videos rather than putting in the effort to be better.
034 you guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

They answer a similar question here about mixing APR with 034 not sure if you find it helpful

I have run Jackal with APR's TCU and it worked ok. Not great but ok. You really should run the proper pair so the ECU and TCU shift points are set up right.

I was on the fence about moving to a a C7.5 A6 but I have since figured out my knock retard issue and just did check valves and pcv so start up rattle is pretty much gone so I've decided to keep it until it does.
If I'm keeping it I think I'm going to move to a different tune. I just cannot stand the way the car feels with the throttle settings. Many have reported how smooth the jackal tune is and I will be going 190 lower with test pipes this summer with hfc down stream. From all the videos I see the jackal tcu still has the rpm wobble on shifts so wanted to keep the tcu if it works ok with the tune. I guess I'll have to see. If it doesn't work out they do have the return window from what I've seen.

Shift wobble has been gone for a long time. Just search my posts on Facebook groups for video. Mine has never shifted smoother and it's faster than it's ever been.

Audizine is pretty dead honestly.
All the good info seems to be on Facebook now, which kinda sucks.
But I did read recently that Jackal had a bunch of updates and the feedback is very positive as far as refinement and improved shift feel.
They even offer "non fart" DSG shifting with ESP/TC off.
(AMAX all the time vs using Launch Control is my understanding)
The hit piece by 034 aside Jackal seems to be delivering some great improvements!

This has been an informative thread. I plan to switch to Jackal from IE, but I'm getting p0420,p0430 cat codes now, so I need to get those replaced first.

This was actually a very few amount of cars to begin with, and is now fully mitigated for those older DSGs that had issues.

So after almost having the car for 2 years I finally caved and decided to tune her [evilsmile]
Jackal had the Taxman 15% off deal so I ordered up the tune, cable, etc along with a set of the recommended plugs.
Next step will be to buy the Merc heat exchanger and install when I do the new water pump i've had sitting here.
While I have no plans on going past stage 1 the upgraded heat exchanger is for piece of mind knowing I am doing everything I can to keep the added heat from the stage 1 in check.
While she is not my DD and only has 35K on her I planned on keeping her a virgin...but life is short!. In all honesty I really only wanted the DSG tune for piece of mind/longevity of the transmission I figure the extra power can't hurt either.
Looking forward to seeing how the car feels after the tune is installed!

Finally swapped the plugs and flashed the car to stage 1 this weekend.
Plugs were a little bit of a PITA but I don't have small hands so there's that lol.
My initial take on the stage 1 tune:
Motor, I was not expecting a noticeable gain low to midrange based on reading up on other stage 1 tunes mainly being top end however it is very noticeable everywhere in the RPMs!
The car is honestly way more responsive everywhere. Yes it keeps pulling up top much harder vs falling off like the stock boost dump, but even the mid range seems much stronger.
Overall I was not really expecting much in normal back road driving (vs max acceleration to redline) but I am very happy with how the car feels ripping on the back roads.
I would recommend the stage 1 to anyone thinking of tuning the car, it really does wake up the car.
DSG, it was a little jerky at first however after a few miles of back roads and mixed driving she smoothed out (I did not do an adaptation, I went to warm up the trans to do it).
I noticed the increased pressure when backing up an incline, it is much more direct and seems like less slipping/hesitation.
I have not launched the car yet however I did rip from a stop and it shifts flawlessly at 7K+RPM.
Overall it seems smoother in "sport", less RPM hang when at constant speed, a bit more responsive when ripping
Side bar, yes my car did smell a little after ripping around.
The car does seem to run a little hotter based on the exhaust pinging a little more than what I remember after parking the car.
This is to be expected as I was hammering on the car a good bit more than normal, and there will be a bit more heat than when it was stock.
Went out later in the day and driving normally there was no smell or excess pinging/cooling from the exhaust.

Good to see you finally popped your cherry even if it was with “the other guys”. Stage 1 daily driving kicks ass compared to stock. Getting to hear the engine rev to 7k+ really makes the sound from exhaust upgrades shine.

I did my homework, read what's been posted on here and FB, saw the vid's etc. and went with the company that has; actual customer service, does not make hit piece videos and post, who actually focus's on "tuning" and helping out the community.
Your "guys" were not even on my list based on what I saw out there!
