Hey all, I've been having this issue randomly happen recently and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. The issue, usually under hard acceleration, but it just happened yesterday during what I would call moderate acceleration, is the engine just cuts out. At least, I think it's the engine... could be DSG? All I know is that when it happens it feels like it's a fuel issue is something, the power just completely drops out. Obviously it is startling so I let off the accelerator and then all is back to normal. Most of the time I can do WOT with no problem. Yesterday, I wasn't even in sport mode, I just gave her a little gas to pass on the highway, and it happened. I let my mechanic know about it, and there were not able to replicate on a test drive, but they did pull the HPFP to inspect and found no issues. I have a DSG service coming up in the next couple weeks so they will look there as well. I would say it's happened 10ish times in the last couple years, seems like more recently but I could just be more sensitive to it now, not sure. Any ideas?

Just had the same exact thing happen to me.

Check both the fuel pump controller and the fuel pump. If you have VCDS, you can actuate the fuel pump manually. Plot actual vs commanded fuel rail pressure.

I ended up doing both. Started with the controller but somehow knocked the fuel filter off the pump. Ended up busting the grounding connector inside the tank. Replaced the pump assembly, now back to normal.

If you order the pump from FCP, don't forget the fuel line cap. The pump is used for everything and some have a return line, B8.5 S4 is returnless, so you need to plug the open port.

I had the same symptom on hard acceleration. It was my LPFP. Replaced it with another Continental pump from Rock Auto and she was good as new.
