I was wondering if someone could help with an issue I am having with my bi-xenon headlight not working.
A couple week's ago, my car had to ride out a bad hailstorm, over 1.1/2" in size! Luckily the car showed not damage except afterwards my driver's side headlight was not working. No xenon headlight, turn signal, daytime running lights, turning light or marker light. Completely dead....
After doing a lot of reading within these forums, I found a mention of some fuses hidden up under the steering wheel. These are never mentioned in the Owner's Manuals, but I did find it in some service manuals and wiring diagrams. But the description on how to access it was invaluable as noted in a post I read. Without that it is really hard to find and even knowing where, you have to remove a few things and can just barely reach them to check.
After checking each one to be sure, I did find a blown 30 amp fuse. Maybe the vibration of the hail or water got in someplace. Once replaced, all the lights worked except the xenon headlight [:(]. I replaced the bulb but still not working.... so after studying the wiring diagrams I think I figured out have they are powered. Power for both headlights goes through the System Control Module J519 but since the passenger headlight works, the issue must be in the driver's headlight. That is the Left HID headlamp control Module J343.
The problem I have is when I go to the Audi Parts site, they don't list it as module J343 but as HID Ballast part number 8K0-941-595-E. Is that what I need to buy and replace? Audi Parts shows a Headlight Control Module but I believe that is for the LED daytime running lights.
I am going to try and remove that J343 module mounted to the underside of the headlight enclosure but really hard to do out in your driveway without a lot of tools I think. if anyone also know of an easy way to get to it please let me know. Might even have to remove the headlight completely but that also is a big task requiring the removal of the front bumper skin [:|]
Thank you
