Can I run IE dual pulleys without a tune?

I have a friend from out of town who is a mechanic and is trying to install the dual pulleys for free. Can this be done? I want to install the pulleys and have the car drivable to the shop to get the tune. Will the car be drivable or will it basically not be drivable at all?

Since it is possible to meet the max drive ratio (for supercharger spec) with the crank pulley alone, why pay extra to have both pulleys changed?
