I a few months ago I bought a 98 A4 2.8L 30v V6. I absolutely love it, I put a custom exhaust on it and it sounds amazing...but I am looking for more power. Is there any other performance parts I can put on my car to give it more power and make it quicker?! Thanks!!

Unless you have money for the G2 supercharger there is nothing really that's gonna give a noticable gain.

there is no much point to get a chip for a non=turbo engine..

supercharge is your only option

intake, chip, (tip chip if you have the tiptronic), and gut your cats(freebie). other than that there is only the supercharger left and thats about $5,000 alone.. thats all the performance mods those have potental for really. get some ecodes or one peice headlights. clear sidemarkers. paint your lowers. debadge it, RS4 grill, a nice spring and shock combo or coilovers, and some nice rims and then you'll have one hell of a sick ride.. thats all IMO of coarse

enjoy your audi and welcome to the forums guy

can you use both the GIAC chip and GIAC tiptronic chip ?

MR VTEC

they are two different things
The 1st is a performance chip to increase engine output (power upgrade) the latter is for the tiptronic tranny ecu to decrease the time it takes for the tranny to shift gears. so instead of it shifting in 1 second it will shift in .3 seconds.
so long story short yes u can use them together.

hey i've been meaning to ask this queston, not to jack this guy's thread. but does that tiptronic chip effect shifting times in both automatic mode and tip mode or JUST in tip mode.[

i've got a recent post on here (throttlebody issue somethin or other) where i'm tryin to figure out what's up with my shifting not being very smooth. if this chip would maybe fix that (only if it works in auto mode too) then i might consider it.

Unorthodox racing has complete underdrive pullie/accesory pullie sets. They say you can see up to 30hp gain.

GIAC chip gives you +10 hp/tq better throttle response 7200 rpm redline and no top sleed limiter,

supersprint headers,

intake (K&N, Lltek, Ebay, homemade).

APR snub will help too.

Nothing mentioned will give you neck snapping performance or anything, but will make it feel much better.

Also I think a couple of comanies make camshafts for it too.

*edit* can you make a vid or a sound clip of your exhaust, because I've been wanting to do a custom exhaust soon. Also what parts did you use, etc...

bellofello, I don't think there will be an 30hp increase with the Unorthodox products. The best is either to supercharge it or swap it out for the 2.7T engine.

I'll post up a vid tomorrow of my magnaflow exhaust on my 2.8. It sounds soooooooooooo good. If I had to compare it to anything I would say 350z smoothness with the European underwater deep gurgle..if that makes any sense at all.

I never said that you would, its just what they advertise. I might get some of the UR stuff because they sponsored my for some reason. I get 15% of all there stuff retail. Not great but better than nothing I guess.

The pullies would help, just not like HUGE amounts like a SC would. I want to turbo it so bad, just SO much friggin money to do [=(] .

What would it cost to do a 2.7TT swap, that would be retarted money no? Unless you found a write off at a junk yard that was rear ended. But scrap yard guy would have to be dumb to give it away for cheap.

yusoslo I know what you mean about the sound. My neighbour has a 2002 Jetta GLI VR6, with a magnaflow catback, and its like nothing I've ever heard, so fecking nice. What muffler/piping did you use? Also are you running a resonater? Looking forward to that video, get on it!

Well since I have a 400hp rx-7 in my driveway I wasn't concerned with hp on the Audi. So I have the stock exhuast with stock resonators with the magnaflow rear section. Its the one with the dual flat cut tips on it...looks like E46 M3 tips. Besides a full catback adds like 8hp for 1,200. I spent 230 installed and maybe I got 3-4hp. I did it for the sound.

Best part city cruising and hightway the exhaust is 100% stock. you cant hear it at all on road trips. Roll the windows down in the city and country and it sounds sick!! best of both worlds

if you are going to get the sc the only pulley you should do is the crank pulley. the other pulleys will lower boost levels. I picked up a s4motor,trans ecu harness an turbos for 6K ill be running the sc set up untill i build the s4 to rs4 specks. so there might be a sc for sale soon
