Looking for some advice. My 2010 Q7 was hit by a tractor trailer on the highway. Miraculously everyone was ok and only the rear quarter panel was damaged. Surprisingly nothing else. No trim, lights, nothing.

I understand that the rear quarter panel is contiguous with the roof and door frame.

The insurance adjuster came out and sent the estimate in. The insurance deemed it a total loss due to the estimate to value ratio. The issue I have is that there are many things listed on the estimate that I think are added there just to bring up the estimate cost so they can total it out. Including rear airbags, wheel R&R, rear bumper, roof rails and sunroof panel, etc.

I’m going to get a separate estimate done at a shop and see what they say. The quarter panel is dented in and creased with paint damage. See attached pic.

I’m not thrilled about the idea of having a salvage title but honestly the car is 13 years old. I own it and possess the title. It’s a TDI and perfect for our needs. It just had an entire long block replace under the TDI warranty a year ago which is why I feel so compelled to keep it.

The insurance company gave me a buyout number.

Im trying to decide how to proceed. Looking for thoughts from the community? Thanks. 315919
