from what i hear, the short shifter is a mod many people wish they would have done sooner. id say go with the SS. if not, the TP. then if not, the CF dash

test pipe, unless you sport a Keep Tahoe Blue sticker.

Actually, you can DIY the SS, gut your cat (same affects as a TP), and buy the CF dash kit. But in your case, I would put a new fuel filter before all of those...[:p]

if you got the ebay ss you can prolly afford to get the testpipe as well. but if i were you i would opt for a hfc instead of the test pipe.

I would agree. My gutted cat is pretty loud with my neuspeed exhaust. I'm sure the TP is the same in terms of noise...

fuel filter was not an option [:p]

gutted cat would cause turbulant air flow....its better to run TP or HFC....only for a real HFC...i would need a 200 count which Milltek sells for 800 bones. those 400 cell HFC aren't that high flow since stock is 600.

my DIY EBAY SS and TP then.

Good Combo. What tp are you planning on getting?

100 cell TT race cat is what I use. passes emissions. Gutted cat still flows betterthen a factory cat even if the flow isn't as clean. It's a ko3, it could blow through a straw.

got a link for the techtonics tuning HFC for a 99.5 a4?

never mind i found it...does say the cell count. i will call them tomorrow to check. i haven't heard of anyone running lower than 200 cell...any 100 i heard of was actually 200.

Nice! I've got the same one with same exhaust setup as you. Just need to install it.

TT HFC is like 330 said and done or so...i'd rather just go TP.

as long as the dp bolts come out...its all good. thats the only Bish about it. otherwise its easiness. and i have an exhaust leak...so i need to fix that like ASAP. i think its at one of the gaskets...all clamps on the exhaust are solid. so its gotta be either at the TURBO to Manifold, Turbo to Cat, Cat to DP...or possible crack in the mani....which i'm would place at the bottom of that list.

Yea i've read the write-up a few times and really want to get it done asap. I just need to find time and go get new gaskets from the dealer. I bought mine used and came with only the tp to dp gasket and i want to replace the cat to tp gasket if im gonna change it.

That sux about the leak, hope u get it fixed soon.
Once you got this all sorted out we definately need to get together.

if you get the testpipe from Eurocode ($153 shipped) and an ebay short shifter ($30-50 shipped) that equalls $200 and you get the two best ones.. the only good carbon fiber dash trim is the OEM RS4 kit thats about $1200. the paste on ones look gross so don't get them.. IMO of coarse

yeah the OEM RS4 kit is really really nice. but the price is steep for such a thing. the shifter plate was $250 alone. all carbon.

i was referring to an overlay that looked really nice.

i'll go with the Evolution Racewerks TP and ebay DIY SS.
i think the ER TP is around 180 so no biggie i'll get the SS...i just heard its a PITA with the EBAY ones.

boost, couple of things:
have you thought about the Labree HFC? It's in the $250 range. also, bitterchild has my ATP TP, I'm sure he'd sell it to you for cheap, although the ER TP is probably much better in terms of fit and finish. Also, I have the ebay b&m knock off. it's been great for me so far. Super easy install too.

i was referring to the overlay too and in person it looks exremely tacky and almost ricer, not at all stock.. but the ER testpipe is $153. just bought one last week

whoever said the ebay short shifter install was a bitch is full of it. its just as good as a 150 one they are just pissed that they payed that much for it. 40 bucks to my door was some of my best money ever spent

ok sweet....i'm getting the ER TP from my local tuner here....some may know who that is. i didn't know what the price was...i never asked.

aight so screw the overlay. i had an overlay kit on another car and got one for my dad's caddy....those looked great. you couldn't tell it was an overlay...i was hoping to achieve the same affect. but never mind.

yeah thought about it. i'm still not impressed with 400 cell units...i heard they have a 300 cell...but after talking with a very knowledgeable guy a friend from EVOMS he schooled my on cats. so its either buy the great ones or don't buy at all....kinda you get what you pay for thing....basically. and i'm not knocking anyone for their choices. going BT next spring/summer....i wanna take max advantage. might as well go straight through...uni software disables O2 code like the eurocode sw. so i'll run some non foulers for now with my GIAC.

sounds like i'll get a B&M EBAY SS. what was your install time on that?

b00st, I hear ya on the cat choices, I was just offering a another alternative. I loved my TP when I had it and that was a chipped k03. it'll make a nie difference on your setup. the ebay b&m SS was about 2 hours or so. it was my first real mod so take that into account. if I had to do it agian, it would take 45 mins max. not that I'm a car newb in general, I just wasn't familiar w/ my car yet. whatever you do, don't drop any nuts or bolts in the tunnel.

CTapp was able to eliminate my no cat cel.

yeah i looked into cats...to him i was just gonna buy an HFC, basically he said if it wasn't 200 cell...with a metallic core, not ceramic core with metal surround...don't bother. he said TP would be better than. cuz i told him i'm not gonna buy an 800 HFC. his next suggestion was TP....so TP it is. i'ma support my local tuner on it. renn-art.

i'll go with the B&M EBAY SS....should take me too long i'll be sure not to drop any nutz down there!

i bought a test pipe. i loved it for a few months. then tolerated it for a few more. then bought a high flow cat.

the short shifter will never come out of the car.

i vote short shifter. it changes the way you interact with the car.

what kind of exhaust do you have? i have milltek...so its quiet. not neuspeed or thermal or borla which are all 10x louder than mine. since i do have a mid muffler as well.

i think i'll just do both...ebay SS and just spend a little time fitting it in and then the TP for maximum gain. i'm pretty damn close with some of these cars...and i think if i had the testpipe....i could pull away intstead of holding even.

incorrect.. who sold you an Evolution Racewerks 3in tapering to 2.5in testpipe for $153?

the ER Test Pipe is $195.

read more about the advantages of the ER test pipe here:
http://www.evolutionracewerks.com/product.php?prodid=33

the pure stainless steel installation kit that comes with it makes it worth it.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b273/egostberg/PARTS041.jpg

we have them right now for sale at $185 (see fall sale in my signature)

i'm pretty sure you meant Eurocode's 2.5in test pipe, which is worth $153.

yeah my bad. in my original post you can see that i meant EC for eurocode. they're ATP test pipe is $153. i got confused going back in forth with bOOst and put down the wrong letter. my bad but shit happens
