Does anyone know how to test or check the air conditioning compressor for an 99 Audi A4 1.8T. The compressor has kicked off before when it was raining really hard but the snowflake light on the inside wouldn't come on. Now, the snowflake light is still on but the compressor doesn't seem to be kicking on. Anyone know how to check that?

Thanks

that could be a lot of things. the compressor cycles off and on normally. When it cycles, the compressor clutch is energized. One way to see if it's the clutch would be by using a test light and see if the clutch it trying to be powered up. If it's not, that could be a problem with the a/c head unit, a pressure switch, fuse, wiring etc. It could even be because you have no pressure (refrigerant) and the low pressure switch is open and won't complete the path to the clutch. It's really hard to say.
