I'm attempting to wrap my interior trim with some quality carbon fiber vinyl. I'm finding it nearly impossible to do a good enough job cutting the vinyl around the brushed chrome raised lips on the doors. I'm wondering if anyone has had any success separating the chrome pieces that are plastic spot melted from the back. If that could be done and reattached somehow the wrap would come out much nicer.

im thinking you can get it off with melting little plastic behind. then re installing with epoxy/ adhesive?

For anyone interested, I was able to grind the plastic spot welds with a plastic cutting dremel wheel in such a way as to remove only the mushroomed over part of the plastic posts. Then, later when re-assembling, I had enough of the original plastic posts sticking up to melt them down with a soldering iron. It worked well and actually went pretty quickly. What I learned is that there is no way to do a nice job while leaving the chrome pieces on. I wish I could post pictures as easily here as on other forums.
