Not sure this right place, will three wire dashcam hardwire kit drain battery badly?

Sorry if in wrong place, but not really vehicle specific.

I may hardwire my Viofo A119 V3 with the three wire hardwire kit that will also provide constant power for parking mode. I have never done this before, always a switched fuse or a mirrortap kit for my radar and my dashcam.

Curious to see how bad the effect on the battery could be with this type of hardwire. Will be in a 2020 SQ5 (B9).

You might want to put a multimeter in DC current mode on the hot line and see what kind of current draw you measure when the device is in "parking mode". More than 40mA total vehicle draw when "sleeping" is "more than desired" from an Audi TSB perspective.

Does the device have a power saver method / hard sleep invocation when it measures the voltage approaching 12.0v? Seems a lot of these kinds of devices have some manner of "battery saver" mechanism.

Thanks, I do not have the hardwire kit installed yet, currently deciding on either wiring it to fuse panel or using a mirrortap type of cord for the dashcam. Having the parking mode definitely intrigues me and can see that being helpful, but I don't need it every day. The camera has three modes, and I believe one of them is to come on when the sensor detects shock/motion.

what dash kit are you going with?

i need to get one that has a mini usb output. most ive seen on amazon/ebay are 2 wires.

It is the hardwire kit that Viofo offers, it has three wires. Not sure if you can use it for other brands or not.
