Hello all,

Recently got a 2013 A7 BiTDi in the UK so 1st time poster. Really like the car but it had an android auto/apple car play box installed that was awful. Sound quality was terrible, car play kept losing GPS signal and all phone calls came through the carplay rather than the Audi bluetooth and the quality was terrible.

So.....I decided to remove it.

I removed the stereo headunit, unplugged everything then removed the MMI screen and unplugged everything. Removed all of the extra wires (stereo harness, USB cables, climate cables, microphone, GPS, wifi antenna etc and started to put it all back together.

Then the fun begins......

The stereo powers on and I can hear the radio and the details appear on the instrument panel. The screen pops out and up but the display doesn't come on.
Reading through some forums - it was noted that the 2 power wires to the screen can break and sure enough they had so I replaced the broken wires. Still no display.
Then I read about the display fuse blowing and sure enough it had! So I replaced it then I checked there was 12v going to the 2 wires into the display and there was but still a black display.

Help!!!!! It was working before I removed everything.

The only other thing that changed was that the car play box had 2 screen cables. One from the head unit to the box then one from the box to the screen - this makes sense.
I didn't make any notes when I removed all the cables as to which was which - I assumed both cables would be the same. The cable to the screen from what looks like the original wiring harness isnt connected as, without removing the dashboard, I couldnt find the other end by the head unit so I used one of the cables from the carplay box from the headunit to the screen. Are all these cables the same?

I cant believe the screen has broken as it worked before I removed stuff.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Many thanks in advance,

Michael

Sounds like the right time to pick up a RSNAV or similar

Hard reboot of the MMI?

could it be that you mixed up the lvds cables? I'm always confused with the lvds plugs when installing boxes - they don't seem logical to me (V shaped, with one going into the box, other end going into the radio and third to extend the original lvds cable).

Also, when you delete all errors from the mmi unit (with box it would always show the open circuit on video signal cable), does the video open circuit error remain?
