Does anyone knows if there is an outside fuel filter on the A6 c7 3.0T. My cars has 115k miles and every morning takes about 4 seconds to start , today I tried to prime fuel by opening the door three time and turning the ignition without starting the car and then tried to start it and started right off.
I think is my fuel filter, I think there is a in-tank filter inside the fuel tank by the pump, but not sure if is the only filter.
I have an appointment next month at the dealer to replace the in-tank fuel pump (recall) not sure if they will replaced both the pump and filter or just the pump. Does anyone knows about this matter?
I appreciate it ! Have a great weekend!

In tank only as far as I remember from the diagrams. The extra time to start could possibly be a weak battery or low fuel pressure. I doubt it’s a fuel filter problem. If you have always got good clean gas the fuel filter will last a long time. Pretty sure mine is original with 228,000 miles

There is an inline fuel filter listed as Item #14 here (https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a6+avant/a6/2013-717/2/201-201025/)

That’s a TDI no?

That’s a TDI no?
Or does it cover both variants? The codes with "auxiliary heater" would be for diesel? Idle curiosity: in the diagram part #10 is a "t-piece", just before the in-line fuel filter. Looks like the fuel may be re-routed around the fuel filter. Is the idea that if the fuel filter becomes obstructed, the fuel may still reach the engine?

I think this one is for diesel engined cars. I don’t see any mention of filters for petrol engined cars [confused]

the only fuel filter is attached to the fuel pump on the 2.0 and 3.0t engine's and is in the fuel tank.
i just replaced my 3.0 a6 fuelpump/filter with the rs7 version
here is the intank filter

if the dealer is replacing pump i belive it will come with filter.
sometimes a car that takes longer to start could be a leaking fuel injector.
do you have vagcom or obd11? you can. warm up the engine and then check the fuel rail pressure after you shut off the engine and then check again in 5 minutes and see i the pressure is higher or lower then when you first shut the engine off. it should be higher since gas expands with heat( i think mine usualy syarts aroung 50bar and maxs out at 140bar after 5 to 10 mins)

Ok good to know.
Yeah it could be a leaking injector, when I replaced my spark plugs about a month ago, I noticed one ( cylinder 1) had white stains, I wonder if that's the one leaking..
My pump will be replaced next month, if this issue continues after that I'll check the injectors.
I have obd11, where could I go to check the fuel rail pressure?
Thanks!

I checked the fuel rail pressure with my obd11.
After shutting engine off I got around 520 psi (35 bar) and after waiting 10 min. I got 1500 psi (103 bar).
Does this sounds normal for an A6 3.0T?

how warm was the engine when you did this? mine starts around 40 and goes up to 130 with a fully warmed/hot engine after 30 mins drive
the fact ypur pressure goes up makes me think not an injectorpersonally. im not sure how hogh it should go though

I drove for about 5 minutes, warm but not all they to normal temperature, but almost.
Ok that's sounds good. Probably a Low pressure fuel pump issue.
