Servicing our Supercharger??

Hi All,

My s/c has been squeaking, I've replaced the idler, tensioner and even tried several belts but still, the squeak remains. I pulled off the s/c etc and found some wear as you can see in the photos.

Can we service these at all? It really just seems to need the brass bushing on the s/c and the snout part that goes into the s/c. You can see the build up of material on the snout piece.

Remember people s/c oil stinks like shit! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think that part is supposed to touch the bushing, the spring in picture is supposed to transmit all the torque to the drive gears...

Oh I was not aware of that, thanks! I just figured it would sit in there and touch but being Brass would definitely need replacing, if that was the case. I can't seem to find any information on anything really. I'm not sure where to go from here. Gears look fine, bit of wear on the drive unit nub that goes into the copper bushing area but nothing else really to note. I assume it might be rear bearings that seem to need replacing occasionally?

I would suggest contacting superchargers online. They were very helpful recommending replacement bearings etc for me. They can help id exactly what you have and what can be done yourself.

Awesome thanks heaps. I was curious to see why more people aren't rebuilding these. Everyone seems to get a wrecker replacement when as far as I can tell (and I'm not a smart man) but these seem like they would be relatively easy for a local bearing shop to pull and press them in. Yet to get my s/c pulley off still. Drive unit removed, I might inspect the vortices and rear "needling" bearings also asap.

Oh that makes sense and fair enough too.

I assumed it would be the front bearings in the drive unit that would let go more often than the rear ones. Although this has previously been a "replace drive unit" response, generally and for the reasons noted above, thanks!
