To your roommate or the dollar amount on the car? To the roommate i'd assume at least castration.

it is salvage. beat him. you seem to have possibly messed up the side of your engine. im amazed that the tire seems to be in good shape.

10-04-2006, 05:38 PM
That looks ok, doesn't seem like the airbags went off. Missed the bumper shock, missed the hub so it's all on that fender and the subframe. It's a close call though, these cars aren't worth much to begin with.

Re5pectThe_Cuz
10-04-2006, 05:38 PM
looks like a total loss to me. if the cost of repair is half the value of the car its a total loss. just from the looks of it, you need new hood, new headlight, front bumper, under belly pan, new fender, and it looks like damage may have gone to the door from the picture. who knows what happened to the frame and engine

were you sleeping in the car when he crashed it, or sleeping at home while he was out detroying your baby?

your insurance should cover it. Looking at that damage, you may need to let them pay for it and suck up the increased premium.

^^ oh she will need so so much more than that if he wants to repair (not a total - being an inventory clerk for a body shop really makes you relize how much $ and parts a minor or major accident is). although to me bro, she looks totalled. frame is easily tweaked and there has got to be some suspension damage. ive seen plenty of A4's damaged less that that and be totalled.

guys settle down drinking and driving is pretty wreckless and idiotic, but lets focus on the subject. seems like he didnt know about his buddy even taking the car.

car = totaled

if i was your friend in that stage i would feel guilty getting into someones car, just knowing something bad could happen, hope your friend is ok, and you dont get screwed out of the situation.

i wouldn't bother with the repair man.. at first glance it looks repairable, but then if perhaps your frame is bent.. then you could be screwed outta some $$$.. Make your dumbass friend buy you an S4.

Rosati

I think He didnt let his ROOMATE drive his car drunk, the kid took his keys when our guy was sleeping and took the car, ive seen this happen.

and a roomate in college isnt always a friend, just someone thats your roomate and have to live with.

So you cant really bash him for those two things, or anything else for that matter,

Just be on the ball when it comes to laying down resonsibility.

Id've reported the car stolen and filed a report, so it wouldnt come out of my pocket or on my record

But thats just me, My car means more to me than any roomate.

and im really sorry about this ....

Mr.Black

totaled no doubt.

did much less damage hitting a deer w/ my 2000 A4 QTIP with only 71,000 and that was totaled.

I did NOT in fact know that my roomate took the car. i woke up to my car gone, i called him to see where he was and he was balling screaming i crashed your car dude. i had to go get him and i pulled up to my car up against a pole on a main road. i towed the car back to my house with a rope before the cops came.

I took it to a reputable body shop to get the damages assessed and the total came to 9,750 dollars. There was major damage to the Apillar area causing the entire door to slump down low when opened. The car was ****ed. He's paying for it from a loan from his parents. Question is, what do i do now? what do you think its worth.

idono man that sux, drunk driving is just plain stupid. sorry to hear this aberke. if i was you i would have him buy you another a4 at the very least, then you could take the mods off your car and give him whats left to part out. thats just my opinion though, its up to you.

how do you know your car is a 98.5 though im curious cuz i know the diff b/w the 99,99.5 and 2000 but what the diff between the 98 and 98.5.

10-05-2006, 06:39 PM
Well you know I have to say this...

He is lucky that he didnt kill himself or someone else. I know how much of a pain in the ass this is so I feel your pain.

was there a DUI or Ticket of anykind for your buddy? I hope that something so small, like this, woke his stupid ass up DRUNK DRIVING is F*cking asking for it, plus a death on your shoulders is nothing easy to swallow.

Maybe a new car is in store for ya?
Good Luck. [rolleyes] (if there is any left)

10-05-2006, 07:47 PM
make him buy u a new one forget fixing jus part out u can find a used one and if the used one has a lack of parts ect take them from the wrecked one ... no car is worth its value in body work

10-05-2006, 08:22 PM
bummer man where did he crash it at?

aberke
10-05-2006, 09:00 PM
I believe what i'm going to do is make him pay retail price for the car, which is 10,625. But, the question is, does he get the car? my dad says no, because he ****ed up and caused me trouble by wrecking my car. what do you guys think?

about the 98.5 thing. 98's came with the old style taillights with the amber turn signals, mine has all red tailights, and a 6 light cluster thing, instead of 4.

he crashed in on the corner of boyd acres and ross road, a block away from my new house

b5pusher
10-05-2006, 09:11 PM
if you can get your roomate to agree to paying for a new car for you and letting you keep yours too then go for it considering you saved his ass from gettin a dui and all the crap that comes with that.

thanks for the info on the diff b/w the 98 and 98.5

b5pusher
10-05-2006, 09:17 PM
not to mention you could have also called the cops on him for basically taking your car without your permission ie. stealing. this guy a friend of mine knows was a valet and he would take this guys brand new ferrari out when he was working, he worked the graveyard shift, and one time the kid took the ferrari and went out for a night on the town the owner got an emergency phone call at 3 am and went to leave and his car was gone, long story short the kid is in jail for gta. thats a little extreme maybe for your situation seeing it was your roomate.

If the cost of the damage exceeds 50% of the vehicles actual value, its considered a total. some insurances may be a bit more or less, but your damage is worth just as much as the car. not worth it man. dont get it fixed. sell the car on ebay or something or sell it to a junkyard and get a new car

I was surprised when they said mine was totaled.

who cares if you roomate gets the wreck? he'll never get close to recouping the money on it.
get the 10K+ from him and get another one.

the shock will wear off. I miss my A4, but the TT kicks Azz!

Kunundrum
10-07-2006, 08:07 AM
I say he get's the Car because he ****ed it up, but Minus the mods, he's paying the retail value of a All Stock vehicle, it's only fair that he get's it.

well heres an update on my car.

My roommate cut me a check for 10,500 for my audi and he took it off my hands. he bought a wrecked a4 and fixed the front end at a cost of about 6000 dollars and a salvage title. so at 16,500 he got a 98.5 A4 with near 100,000 miles. Good deal eh.

Anyways i took the money and found this jetta in New jersey and with the money he gave me i bought this and had it shipped, which i think is a good deal. I dont know how this is going to go over in an audi forum but i spent a good amount of time here. I havent gotten the car yet so bear with me on the few things that arent that great...eyelids etc. but here it is.

I'm not digging the burled plastic trim or the disco wheels but I love a nice Jetta VR6. There are very few cars that sound as nice as a VR6.

i agree with most everything posted. i will be getting rid of the eyelids, mudflaps, the wood is kinda corny but it has a lot of positive features as well. the first thing i will do is i will put a nice dark tint on it and play a few games of need for speed on the ps2 in the glovebox
