Around late January my 2016 RS7 stopped getting traffic updates. I called Audi and they told me this was a known issue they had recently resolved and to take it in to have the new update installed. I just did this yesterday; they installed the update described by TSB 2059383. Nothing has changed and I'm still not getting traffic updates. Anyone else run into the same issue?

Some of these older models just can't keep up with the newer technology. The solution I did was to get a wireless CarPlay dongle. Google maps with traffic can be displayed. Not sure if that is a possibility on 16 models. Mine is a 17.

It is possible on 16 models, but not via dealer. Several members on the forum can help, or use mibsolution

Same thing happened on my '18. Audi gave me a different TSB 2037809. I contacted the "technologist" at the dealership who had no knowledge of the problem and also stated he was unsure if a paid map update would restore real time traffic updates. I reset the MMI, removed and reinstalled the Sim card, and also double checked that traffic updates were on in both the nav and MMI with no change. Audi connect has been active since the car was new. Now using Android Auto.

OK, I went and looked but my 17 has no traffic updates available. I have been using CarPlay as of late and haven't paid attention to the nav. I think Audi is just phasing all of this stuff out. Not sure what you get with Audi connect on an older model. I think it's been a couple of years that they stopped with the Google maps. What'll it be next??

This happened to me in January as well. Yesterday was my first opportunity to call Audi Connect customer service. After much delay, I was told that there is a known issue with 2016-2018 A6 and A7 (and presumably R and RS). They did not have a solution and would contact me when they had more information.
Not very satisfactory. I'm still under CPO warranty. I'm paying $15 a month for cell service that is useless.

Has anyone found an answer to this issue? Another possible answer has been discussed here:

My 2013 would only get traffic updates if I paid for Sirius XM. Not sure about newer systems.

My 2013 A7 was the same. When I got the RS7 it was a bit of a process because Sirius did the traffic updates for the A7 and S7, but for the RS7 I needed an Audi Connect subscription.

Audi system outage causes Live Traffic not to appear
For the past few weeks, the Live Traffic updates have stopped showing up in my MMI navigation maps (2017 Audi TT).
I have confirmed that my SIM is connected and I have LTE.
I have confirmed that other online features in Audi Connect (weather, news, etc.) still DO show up.
I went to my local Audi dealer service department and explained the situation.
The service rep asked "This stopped working for you about 2-3 weeks ago, am I right?"
I said yes.
He replied "There was a nationwide system outage at Audi. The entire system needed to be reset. People with up to date maps all reconnected OK. People with out of date maps could not reconnect."
When I asked to get this working again, he said "To get you connected, we need to get you updated to the latest maps, a license, AND a software update. It takes about 2-3 hours. Cost $750 + tax."
I would be interested if anyone else knows anything about this.

Not sure if the information in this forum would apply to a TT, but there are threads where folk offer help with map/firmware updates.

Spoke to Audi USA today. The rep stated that "traffic updates have been out since February 6th." "It is being worked on with no estimated time of resolution."
2 and a half months...

For those who lost the Live Traffic earlier this year (people without the latest current map update) ...
Sometime this past weekend it appears Audi has restored the Live Traffic overlay for the MMI Navigation Maps.
I made NO changes to my vehicle / connection settings.
They traffic info just reappeared.
Total down time: About 4 months

Yes, traffic updates have returned for me also.

What exactly are traffic updates? Is this similar to Google Maps showing accurate trip time based on real time traffic?

Can anyone comment on what the live traffic updates entail? Is it like Google Maps traffic?

I'm not sure what bdalton03 is referring to. There are two aspects to the system. There is a map database stored in the system. For my car, I have to get updated maps and load them into memory off SD cards. I believe for facelift cars, the map database was updated over the air, but for a limited number of times. I believe there are AZ threads that discuss work arounds when the over the air subscription expires.
Separately, there is a system to show traffic information as an overlay onto the map database. So far as I am aware, this is over the air for both pre- and post-facelift cars. The traffic overlay is like Google Maps, with green/orange/red color to indicate varying traffic conditions. To my knowledge there is no "update" for the live traffic information (that's why it's "live"). Apparently the traffic information is linked to a SiriusXM subscription (see post #8 above).
Once upon a time, from a teutonic country far, far away, Audi also provided a Google Earth overlay. That went away several years ago supposedly because of hardware obsolescence but more likely because a contract expired and was not renewed.

By traffic updates i mean:
On the navigation map, there is a color overlay on roads (roads that have traffic analysis) that range from Green for clear to Orange for delay to Red for severe delay.
Then if you go thru the menu, you can get a screen that shows a list of all roads in the area with heavy traffic.
