I'm trying to install a dash cam but the manual does not indicate which fuses are ACC and which are BAT. Should I not be doing this on the passenger side? Also I tried plugging the ACC one into an empty spot and it did not power the dash cam, so IDK what I'm doing wrong

black is term 15 (your ACC), brown is term 30 (your BAT).

You don't say B8.0 or B8.5. B8.0 black is only wired 5 through 12. B8.5 black is only direct wired those positions that are used (5,7,8,9).

I did my cam on the driver side. Don't remember which fuse I tapped however. I'll have to look when I'm with my car next time.

I should be able to use a tap with two fuse slots for one of the BAT ones though right?

You should be able to use it on any one of them that tests 12v present with a meter.
All the brown slots are wired, so long as the device has a low voltage cut off so it doesn't kill the battery.

I pulled a fuse out of the black panel and tested it with a meter and the light did not come on even with the ignition on. Furthermore I plugged in a tap to one of the BAT slots and hooked it up to the camera and it did not power. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong :^)

Are you testing with the red on the fuse slot and black on a proven chassis metal ground point (maybe the bolt below the fuse columns)? You can also just use the test pads on the top of the fuse; no need to pull it.

Everything with a fuse will have power at some point. Use something unimportant so if your fuse blows you aren't losing power steering or something. What documentation did your camera manufacturer give you? When I installed mine my camera and my parking mode battery used the opposite wire color convention. Took me a while to figure that out. Maybe you're having a wiring issue.

Do what smac said to find 12v. Ignition on, black lead touching an unpainted metal part of the chassis, red lead touching the little metal exposed bit on top of the fuse. Go down the rows and write down some fuse numbers with 12v. Turn ignition off and do the same test. Whichever fuse doesn't have 12v at that point could be used.

There's no discrepancy regarding how the fuses are powered. Ends of dash, black is term 15, brown and red are term 30. Except driver end brown 1-4 (various term 87) and passenger end black 1-4 (unpowered). Passenger end black on B8.5 is individually wired; you need term 15 on B8.5, use the driver end black.

Also note, for MY10+, passenger end black is powered by the fuse 15 in driver end black. So if driver end black has term 15 (12v when ignition on) but passenger end black does not, check that fuse.

I got it to work on accessory power, but it doesn't seem to work on battery power. I checked the slot and it's providing battery power but the camera is not on/recording. Faulty hard-wire kit?

Either voltage is there or not. The electricity on the black carrier is no different than the electricity on the brown carrier. What voltage did you measure on the black carrier slot vs the brown carrier slot? Does it work in the brown carrier slot if engine is running (voltage present will be in the 13s/14s, much higher than any cut off in the camera)? If all you did for working vs not working is unplug the fuse tape and plug it into the other carrier, that would not imply a wiring kit issue. But if it's still intermittently working even in the black carrier, possibly.
