Hello,

Anyone in Norcal have access to ODIS and can reprogram the AM/FM Tuner and remove component protection? looking on Youtube it is like a 15--20 minute job possibly. Tried going to Elk Grove Audi where the service manager knew exactly what I needed and quoted me $90 which I would have paid but the service tech changed it up and said it would take an hour and 30 minutes so they wanted to charge me $350. I left lol.

I saw a couple different ways to remove component protection though. Either removing the old EEPROM and replacing it in new unit (but I am not sure what this looks like as there are a few 8 leg chips LOL).

Leaning towards buying a VAS5054A and ODIS software from AliExpress but ODIS requires a subscription login. Not sure if these kits come with the sub logins...

We got any techs in NorCal I can drop a quick $100 to though? lol

If you are local to Elk Grove, I took mine into 2Bennett a few years ago when I did my DIS swap in the A4, required copying the coding from the old to new and component protection removal. I know JH Motorsports has ODIS capabilities as well. Might be worth shooting them an email/PM.

Although it might not cost $100 lol.

Try Euro Clinic in Santa Clara. I believe they have have ODIS capabilities.
