I had a timing chain fail on my B8 2010 A4 recently and so am now paranoid about my S7!
I read a lot that -5° and beyond for Camshaft adaptation intake bank 1: Phase Position was bad.
But the reading I see on VCDS for my S7 is:
IDE00182 Camshaft adaptation intake bank 1: Phase Position is 5.91°
So my question is, is having a positive value rather than a negative value any different and/or should I be concerned that I have timing chain stretch?
As all the info I can find on the values for this applies just to the B8 and they only speak of negative values.
Failing this, can people post up the values they are seeing for IDE00182 Camshaft adaptation intake bank 1: Phase Position
Many thanks in advance!

I cannot speak for the 4.0 platform but on my 2012 A7 I eventually got the dreaded P0016 and P0018 codes indicating I had a problem and had to replace my chains. I suspect the 4.0 should show codes before failure as well. You might want to do a search in the 4.0 sub forum to see how (un) common the problem might actually be

Thank you for the reply!
I did get the P0011 code recently (Camshaft position Timing Over advanced or system performance bank 1) but it cleared almost instantly. Put that down to a dirty oil screen on the camshaft adjuster or a faulty camshaft adjuster but it got me looking at the timing...
Also I am new to the forum, I didn't see the 4.0 specific, thanks! Will try that also.
I tried to reply to you but your inbox is full. FeuerFrei has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space.
Anyway, I'll post it here for others as well. I didn't go back and look at my posts here but just referenced my personal notes on the S6 service. Not sure if the same as my posts on here.

I get similar error P0011 - Camshaft Position (Bank1) Timing over-advanced or system performance - error on my C7-S6 every few months. I went through the same BS with getting the error to come back after flashing to stock. Anyway, I was able to log the error. Took to dealer at 29k on 4-21-16. They replaced N205 valve part 06E-109-257-S, seal ring and bolt under warranty
Note: Oil Separator was replaced on 1-19-18
Camshaft Position (Bank1) Timing over-advanced errors again. Can't recall below if they were P0011 or P052A - both codes are Camshaft Position (Bank1) Timing over-advanced errors

2-16-18 55,185 Error Bank 1

Bought BG EPR Engine Flush July 2018
Posted on 8-21-18 Update - Somewhat related, I did an engine flush for the first time with BG EPR last month at 58k miles. Drained oil from pan, replaced filter. Added new oil. Started the engine and received P052A - Camshaft Position Timing Over Advanced - Bank 1. Cleared fault. Received 2 more times during first start of the next two days. No faults since then. Possibly some gunk or debris was in screen or a sensor somewhere
Fast forward to 2020. Have not received those faults since.
Had turbo screen recall work done late 2022 (with APR stage 2). No problems.
I change my own oil every 5k or 1 yr. Sadly, the last two oil changes have been time based on time and not miles. No more Camshaft Position (Bank1) Timing over-advanced errors since 2018.
Maybe P0011 was resolved by replacing N205 valve part 06E-109-257-S, seal ring and bolt.
Hope this helps.

Apparently I am only allowed 4 messages in my inbox!
Thanks for replying, I will look into the N205 valve, I replaced that on my B8 A4 a while back so familiar with it at least!
Hopefully though it's just down to oil change, as I am at 7k miles since last change, I usually do it myself at 5k but just not had a chance, as need to get it on a lift but now it is a priority!
Thanks again for your help!
